    Oh, man, that sounds delicious...

Yeah, it was pretty epic in the hall. I'd love to hear her start releasing new music in this style (beyond the collabs she's done with K.A. Smith and Neotantrik).

Caterina Barbieri. On this live track she plays cello for a bit.Hang on,it's worth the listen, imo. Also a Buchla user.

From the same cd sampler of electronic works, this ,by Alessandro Cortini.

I like it Walt! Barbieri is great, and Cortini is great (as always). Thanks

Started rewatching the modular synth documentary I Dream of Wires last night. It's hard to ignore some of the bias toward the west coast school (i.e the Buchla / Subotnick axis), but nonetheless it's a very interesting dive into some of that early stuff. And wow, for hardcore gear porn, pick about any still frame from that film and....LOOK AT ALL THAT JUICY SYNTH ACTION

If you need to scratch that late 70s/early 80s TD itch a bit more (we all do from time to time, don't we?), check out Perge. They do a great job of recreating that sound. The whole thing's rather tongue in cheek. Have a look at the link: cover art and song titles remind you of something?
    https://perge.bandcamp.com/album/scattered-thoughts
Some people on RYM seem to have taken the info on bandcamp at face value: they've marked albums that Perge claim are recovered live recordings from the 70s (yeah right) as live/archival

I have a different Perge album (Attalus) and enjoy it just fine for what it is

A slightly different tangent, but potentially of interest, would be the new Async Remodels album featuring remixes from Ryuichi Sakamoto's (very excellent as is) album Async. Among the folks who tweaked the material you have Oneohtrix Point Never, Electric Youth, Alva Noto, Fennesz, SURVIVE, Andy Stott, and even the recently-departed Johann Johannsson (sniff). Well worth a listen.

Oh, and apparently Oneohtrix Point Never has a new installation or something coming to NY in May: http://armoryonpark.org/programs_events/detail/myriad

Not sure if it'll be an album, or just the installation. But the trailer is intriguing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTjn1d-d2II

I'd go, but I've got conflicting plans (dammit).

Caterina Barbieri, synth artist par excellance(from Italy, currently living in Berlin), will be appearing at MoogFest and best of all, she's playing a show in NYC on May 16,in Brooklyn.I don't often make the long subway trip from Queens to Brooklyn to see live music, but for her i'll probably do it.She informed me of her NYC show plan in a FB message this morning in response to my query about other east coast USA shows.

I hope so, because "Troposfear" is a nice slice of quasi-plagiarism. (Seriously, it sounds pretty cool for what it is.)

They certainly don't mind a TD quote here and there... and there and there...

CD by the new duo of Claudia Brόcken and Jerome Froese: Beginn. It does feature vocals.

Beginn is a fascinating fusion of the talents of Claudia Brόcken (Propaganda) and Jerome Froese (Tangerine Dream) highlighting electronic sounds and sonic dreamscapes.

Brόcken’s unmistakable voice covers an astounding range from ethereally fragile to experienced diva and blend into electronic song structures that mix Froese’s trademark Guitartronica with synth-heavy experiments.

Suzanne Freytag, Brόcken’s co-vocalist in Propaganda, also collaborates on the song Sweet Sense (Of) Liberation.

The special foldout digipak CD designed by Philip Marshall (ZTT) with the input of Claudia, Jerome and Paul Morley.

I don't think he's been mentioned here yet, but I've been enjoying a lot of Wojciech Golczewski's synth albums of late. Really great, analog synth, soundtrack-esque material (i.e. less synthpop/synthwave and more atmospheric/cinematic). Hard to pick a favorite, but both End of Transmission 1 & 2 are excellent, as is Reality Check. Some of his stuff has been issued on vinyl by Death Waltz too, for those that love to hold the tunes in their hands...

Oh, I can't believe I haven't mentioned THIS yet, because it is a pure 100% glass of liquid mad awesome perfection:

"Hope Rides Stallone"? Please tell me that isn't a tribute to The Italian Stallion.

You'll just have to listen and see

Won't lie...I ended up buying the album. Mostly because the snark level was so high, I couldn't help myself.

And I could do a whole nother thread on Mitch Murder from Sweden, one of the finest melodic synth masters today!

Mitch Murder - Real Deal EP 25pct.jpg
Sonically cradling you with deep and honest 80's emotions Mitch Murder creates addictive retro synth masterpieces. As the story goes Mitch is an overworked Wall Street I.T. from the 80's who dreams at night other realities for himself. These are the soundtrack to his dreams.

‘The Real Deal EP’ is a throwback to the golden days of Wall Street and the five tracks were written “with the intention of re-creating that 80s Wall Street feeling; the feeling a stockbroker gets when scoring a deal.”

Loveable opener ‘Call Waiting’ is a glossy and euphoric slow-disco jam with radiant chords and retro drums that cannot fail to get you up on your toes. The jubilant ‘Digital Market Place Strategy’ then steps it up with rigid bass stabs and neon Casio keys and is an unmistakably retro disco stomper. Always sitting on the fun side of cheese, ‘Breakway’ is another gem with skittish analogue synths stepping up through the scales and twinkling off into the night.

Getting more romantic and coy, ’Outpost Alpha’ slows the pace and sinks into a still colourful but more cuddly groove before ‘Prime Operator’ closes out in a frenzy of pixelated chords and tightly programmed drums that reflect and refract bright hues all around you. It’s unashamedly joyous and celebratory stuff that brims with nostalgia.

This is an evocative and authentic offering that immediately transports you to a vibrant scene in 80s New York and does so with a real sense of charm.
    Tracklist:

    1. Call Waiting
    2. Digital Market Place Strategy
    3. Breakaway
    4. Outpost Alpha
    5. Prime Operator

Ha ha ha ha...it is pretty goddamned cheesy isn't it? I like it in an ironic/sarcastic way, TBH. If I have it in the car, it is great for pissing off my bandmates when we go out for lunch

Interestingly enough, Makeup and Vanity Set does some excellent "normal" synth stuff too. I got this over the weekend and really like it: https://makeupandvanityset.bandcamp.com/album/88-88 (try the track 'Collapse' as a good starter).

And the Golczewski is genuinely pretty great stuff. No irony or snark whatsoever

Yeah, I am down for the Eno box

This isn't brand new, but I have to say it's an album that I find myself coming back to over and over these days:

    https://makeupandvanityset.bandcamp....bum/wilderness

For some reason it brings to mind the (IMHO excellent) score to Tron Legacy that Daft Punk did. A bit more cinematic and varied than some synthwave albums.

For those still reading along...I am currently loitering near the back of the 9:30 Club in DC, waiting for GosT to open the night... followed shortly after by Carpenter HELL YES Brut.

Sorry for the bump...this is too good a deal to NOT pass along. Killer Ulrich Schnauss album on vinyl + CD for just $13:

This is actually one of my favorite US releases, along with No Further Ahead Than Today. IMHO essential
