1992 video of the Chris Squire Experiment

I've had a audio boot of this for years but I had no idea video actually existed (the audio boots were probably from this recording).

Anyways, it's a nice historical artifact. For those of us at this show it was our first time ever seeing Billy Sherwood and Jimmy Haun (who I thought looked like all the surf punks I went to high school with ), and there are early versions of songs that appeared on Open Your Eyes and the CSE Conspiracy album.

I think it took my hearing about a week to recover, it was so loud. But the band was white hot and the energy they put out was amazing. I got to meet Chris and Alan after the San Jose show. I had Chris sign my Ricky plus a photo of him on stage from 1979. I remember him looking at it for a while, then turning to Alan and saying, "Maybe I should start wearing a tie again." Alan cracked up, and it was a great little moment.

The phone number is of Chris' publicist at the time. He wanted a copy of the photo for his own archives.

No, it is not the officially released DVD, which I believe is from several years later. I have a video boot of this CSE show, which I got from Dime a couple of years ago. I was surprised by how good it was.

CSE really stretched out the OYE and Conspiracy songs and made me like them much more than the versions on the CDs.

That picture is great! The 8 string Ric. Last I heard, Vincent Gallo still had it in his possession.

I saw this tour at a small club in Phoenix called The Mason Jar.

It was a turning point in my Yes fandom. I met some diehards that night. Soon I'd be one too....

I never even knew about the Chris Squire Experiment until several years later, because they only played west coast shows, and at that time, I had way of knowing about such things. I think there were a couple songs from one of the CSE shows on a compilation video this guy from Missouri sent me, of all sorts of Yes stuff he had in his collection, bits of the Belgian TV thing from 1970, the Talk tour video from South America (was it Chile?), some soundcheck footage from the 84 tour (including a brief glimpse of Casey Young, the auxiliary keyboardist they used on that tour), that weird video they did for Silent Wings Of Freedom, outtakes from the Yesyears documentary video, and a few other odds and ends.

Love that pic. Mind if I post it to Forgotten Yesterdays, crediting you as source? I can crop out the phone number.

That's fine, Steven. I'm heading out of town but when I get back I'll check to see if there's a photographer's name on the back. I want to be sure it's properly credited if possible.
