    Great stuff about Wakeman, Dodie.

Right on, Bodie! If anyone hasn't read Wakeman's Grumpy Old Rock Star (and Further Adventures of a...), they ought to. Some mind-blowing stories in those (and make sure you don't have an open drink next to your book).

It's the way I see it too, and why I think their story is perfectly capable of being repeated.

Interesting to know more about Wakeman"s love for Classical Music, which of course influenced him ever since the early years of his career.

And glad to know about Howe's appreciation for one of Villa Lobos' Cello Concertos. Today, unfortunately, most of his works remain obscure to the Brasilian people in general.

Indeed - when I spoke to him he also mentioned he liked "several of the new prog bands" (he mentioned Karnataka, and also that he personally thought Radiohead and Muse are prog even if the band members don't know it), and I dare say occasionally he listens to whatever stuff his sons Oliver and Adam play on.

Howe once said that at home back in the late 60's/early 70's he mainly liked to listen to - not Keith Richards or Eric Clapton or even Muddy Blues - but Julian Beam.

Nope shows he's open minded and not stuck in the past.

Yeah , this is another interesting case of how the early 70's interaction between popular culture and high culture was really flourishing in Europe, particularly in England. During his years in Yes, Chris Squire had the bass tuned to the deepest organ tones for extra depth. It probably reminded him of the organ where he had sung in the choir.
