my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.
^I'm not disagreeing with you on that, but I was solely talking about this track, others have an agenda where the same thing gets posted over and over again, and I'm not associating myself with that.
That intro here is the ultimate in cheese-laden overproduction IMHO. Mind you I didn't think much of 'All The Time In The World' which they trailed for the previous album Now What?...that turned out to be pretty good and well received across the board.
As someone whose knowledge of DP begins and ends with Smoke on the Water and whatever that other song was on classic rock radio in the 80's... If you told me what I just heard was from the new Spinal Tap album, I would've said "Yes, I believe you."
Prior to the album's release in April, a 4-track EP is being released in February which will include:
1) the album version of 'Time For Bedlam'
2) 'Paradise Bar' a new song recorded during the studio sessions for the new album which will remain exclusive to the EP
3) an instrumental version of "Uncommon Man", originally on the album "NOW What?!"
4) from Ian Paice's private archive, the rehearsal of the new song "Hip Boots", recorded live from the rehearsal room short before Deep Purple entered the studio with Bob Ezrin to record the new album.
A bit of 'Paradise Bar' here from the ‘From Here To Infinite’ Documentary Movie
Track listing for the full album has also been released:
01. Time For Bedlam
02. Hip Boots
03. All I've Got Is You
04. One Night In Vegas
05. Get Me Outta Here
06. The Surprising
07. Johnny's Band
08. On Top Of The World
09. Birds Of Prey
10. Roadhouse Blues
Tour dates are out, with Alice Cooper and Edgar Winter. No San Francisco dates.
Yeah, I was sort of embarrassed listening to that one. Something about a bunch of middle aged progsters with a couple of new kids trying to sound angry and political. Nice middle section though - won't judge the album on a single though. The video made no sense other than it was filmed when they were prepping the cover.
Ice cutter! Give it to the man, man!
Makes me think another song was supposed to go in there and they changed their mind at the last second.
Time for Bedlam may feature Gillan's (or Glover's) worst lyrics ever (and they are not even in their usual style), the music still sounds good and Purple-ish to me, so my hopes are reasonably high after Now What !?
Off the topic, it is very interesting that Roger Glover is another PA's "prog-related" act now - personally, I have nothing against that - while The Grateful Dead, The Steve Milller Band, The Tubes, The Velvet Underground, Joni Mitchell and Walter Becker, just to name a few, aren't due to anglocentrism which rule in the PA's massonerie progresif

I hope there are no tracks like Hell To Pay, from Now What... Not only is it uninspired, every time I hear it, I think Ian's singing Hell Toupee.
That said, I'll probably pick up the new one.
"Roadhouse Blues"? The Doors song?
"Arf." -- Frank Zappa, "Beauty Knows No Pain" (live version)
New interview with Roger Glover:
DP finally coming to Atlanta!!! Really hope to get to this show.

I surprisingly enjoyed their last album so much. First song to last, one of my favorites of theirs. Not some of the super high points, but none of the auto skip songs a lot of their albums tend to have (at least for me). I didn't enjoy the start of the song that much, bu Airey really blows me away, and that middle part is excellent.
I have always been such a Jon Lord fan, and I really can't imagine anyone stepping into his shoes the way Don Airey has. If he had not stepped in, I feel they would have withered on the vine and silently gone away over the past 12 - 13 years. Right now, Airey makes Deep Purple for me.
Another new song from the new album: "All I Got Is You"
Correct - it's the only way for some artists to feel like they're vital and not just a casino/county fair oldies act. Then again, if they don't want to become just a oldies band they have to make some new music otherwise the setlist is just rehashing old stuff.
Just listened to both those videos. Despite the intro/outro "Bedlam" is pretty solid - that little guitar/keys workout had some spit and fire to it. The riff on "All I Got is You" is damn good and Ian's vocal is spot on.

I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down.'- Bob Newhart
Crikey, what's with the cover, is Hevy Devy going to sue?
Having trouble thinking of another band that has been as consistently great as DP across nearly 50 years. New topic?
^^^ I love 'em, too, but they've had their ups and downs. You can say that they have always rebounded from their lows, at least.
I just can't deal with Gillan's voice. I like Steve Morse and Don but Ian is the deal breaker. I'll give them credit for keeping DP going though.
A new somewhat auto-biographical? music video from the band:
