    IQ's next album.
Last I heard they were playing some new tunes in the concerts late 2016/early 2017.
Maybe that'll lead to new release in 2017.

So far, just the new Tim Bowness.

  4. #4
    Ulver
    Ben Frost
    Tim Bowness
    Ephemeral Goddamned Sun
    Roger Waters
    Art Zoyd box
Necromonkey (no, they haven't mentioned anything, but they're consistent and consistently amazeballs so I'm being "glass half full" here)
    Thinking Plague
    Pedal Giant Animals
    Carpenter Brut
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

Music isn't about chops, or even about talent - it's about sound and the way that sound communicates to people. Mike Keneally

Well, Ulver's new one (apparently called 'The Assassination of Julius Caesar') has been mentioned on their home page and the House of Mythology news as well...and their performance at Roadburn this April is being touted as a CD release show for the Julius Caesar set. So, at this point it seems far more likely than not.

The Waters, honestly it's just a speculation, based on the various interviews describing how far along they are with the recording process (apparently he's been working with Nigel Godrich, of Radiohead fame), and the fact that his upcoming Us + Them tour is expected to include material from this forthcoming album.

So, I'd say that while I don't have an exact TBD for the Ulver, it's highly likely to land in the spring. The Waters? It could be in the fall, or it could still be two years from now.

Edit: here's the bit from Roadburn about Ulver: http://theobelisk.net/obelisk/2016/1...r-and-tickets/

I can't find the blurb from HoM about the album, but in case you *didn't* know and care, they also just released a vinyl-only soundtrack, semi-unexpectedly: http://houseofmythology.com/releases...lver-riverhead

Despite how it may seem, we don't actually consider Peter Gabriel a role model when it comes to release schedules

(we're about 30% done with basic tracking, should be mixing in early 2017)

    Dept. of Jazz/New Music:
I read a while ago(i forget where) that the Finnish TUM label is releasing two cds by trumpeter Wadada Leo Smith. One cd is a recording of string quartets composed by Smith;the other is an electric ensemble made up of Wadada on trumpet, Henry Kaiser,Marc Ribot and another guitarist whose name escapes me,Bill Laswell on bass, and a drummer whose name also escapes me.Damn dead brain cells.Sorry.

Yeah, it's been weeks since Neal Morse's last double album! He's overdue. Probably they're just editing the Making Of DVD...

I figure the guy is so prolific, I wouldn't be surprised by something next year!

Hang on, I guess that would be Flying Colors. OK, scratch Neal from my list!

    Buggles/Horn
    Yes
    Steven Wilson

*I heard a release day of Dec 32nd, 2017, so just under the wire. Neil Peart is rumored to be the guest drummer.

    Thinking Plague.

Considering that I paid for it almost 18 months ago, I wouldn't mind getting it at some point in 2017.

    Moon Safari (Himlabacken vol. 2)
    Tim Bowness
    The Mute Gods
    Big Big Train (Grimspound)
    Flying Colors
    Lonely Robot

Shouldn't Sanguine Hum be coming up with the sequel to Now We Have Light?
It'd be nice to think Echolyn might be up to something, but I've got no reason to suppose so.

I'm sure there'll be a few others that I'll look out for with pleasure but less high expectations (Steve Hackett)

Some good ones that I forgot.

Also, is Sound of Contact in the pipeline for 2017?
