    World Radio

Mostly just a fun link, but it's a way to access world radio: check it out.

That's actually super-cool! I'm a bit of a radio geek, so it appeals to me. Probably really good for learning geography too. Since I haven't been able to check it out for too long, does it include shortwave stations, and is there a way to search for stations?

It'd be nice if there was a geopolitical overlay.

Yes, I assume it's new. It would be nice for an overlay or a better way to navigate it. I haven't found a way to navigate other than just monkeying around with it or guessing, and going to various parts of the USA or whatever. You can find LA and San Francisco etc fairly easy, but yeah, a map overlay would be much better or even an text index perhaps. I haven't seen any short wave stations.

Also a way to bookmark stations that you enjoy would be another good option. I was listening to the student radio station up at Rutgers University the other day. They played a broad range of musical styles.

Interesting. Some proggy stuff coming out of Tokyo.

This is pretty cool. I listened to the Tokyo station for a bit. The DJs were speaking a patois of Japanese and English. They sounded like the AM DJs I remember from the mid 60s ("playin' trax from stax o' wax!"). Then I scrolled over to Iceland. Just some mindless rap/pop. I was over there a few years ago and was quite surprised that there was a country and western station (or at least a C&W program) on the air.

I wonder if there's any way to shut off that damn tone it keeps playing in the background?

Amazing--troubling?--how stylistically homogenous/uniform the playlists are globally.

Could be a mass conspiracy? Actually the better ones tend to be the college radio stations where they aren't funded by advertising, etc. That one up at Rutgers is an example. They were playing a little bit of everything. My go to station really, at least on the web is: accuradio.com I like their Cutting Edge Jazz station.
