    RIP Greg Lake

From the Greg Lake Facebook page this morning...

"Yesterday, December 7th, I lost my best friend to a long and stubborn battle with cancer. Greg Lake will stay in my heart forever, as he has always been. His family would be grateful for privacy during this time of their grief. Many thanks, Stewart Young"

    https://www.facebook.com/greg.lake.1...WSFEED&fref=nf

In my heart I hope this isn't true but I fear that this is simply not the case. RIP Greg...

One of the worst years of my lifetime, this is proving to be. And the same year as Keith Emerson.

Horrendous news...but I'd had a feeling for some time he wasn't well as public appearances seemed to be getting rare (he wasn't at any of the Keith Emerson tributes, although he did make a statement and various interviews). It's right that it was kept private, though.

One of the great progressive rock vocalists and a vastly underrated musician too.

    RIP.

It's already on his Wiki page as well.

All the best to his close folks, and goodbye and farewell to one of the finest voices we knew.

    RIP Greg Lake

Just saw that of FB, damn[emoji22]

    Epitaph
The wall on which the prophets wrote
    Is cracking at the seams
    Upon the instruments of death
    The sunlight brightly gleams
When every man is torn apart
    With nightmares and with dreams,
Will no one lay the laurel wreath
    As silence drowns the screams
Between the iron gates of fate,
The seeds of time were sown,
And watered by the deeds of those
    Who know and who are known;
    Knowledge is a deadly friend
When no one sets the rules
The fate of all mankind I see
Is in the hands of fools
    Confusion will be my epitaph
As I crawl a cracked and broken path
If we make it we can all sit back and laugh,
But I fear tomorrow I'll be crying,
Yes I fear tomorrow I'll be crying

It's getting ridiculous at this point, seriously.

Seeing "Greg comments on the passing of Chris Squire" on his website makes me ill, enough, already!

RIP Greg Lake- To Celebrate his life, what is your favorite GL vocal performance?

A legend has passed, and hopefully this is the last in this dreadful 2016 where we've lost too many. As I sit here in shock, my first thought is to go down memory lane to all my favorite vocal performances from Greg Lake over the years. What is your favorite?

My vote is for Epitaph, by King Crimson.

This is so sad. RIP Greg. THE voice of prog, and an incredibly underrated songwriter. I recently thought that while there were a lot of bands aping ELP's trademark keyboard-heavy sound in the 1970s (from German Tritonus to USA's Load and beyond), it's Greg's contributions that they had most problems with. They rocked the classics alright, played virtuoso Hammonds and Moogs and generally copied the original faithfully, but none had a song like "From the Beginning" in their repertoire. Goes to show what was ELP's important and one of the less talked about assets.
