    Koenjihyakkei and Present

Anyone have any info on these two bands? Are there any new releases coming?

Present were meant to have a new album coming out but it looks like the band may be on a hiatus at the moment, I'm personally still hoping something happens in the next year or so but I wouldn't bet on it.

^ Is Roger's condition worsening, Ian? Have you heard anything?

I mean, obviously it's always worsening - I just wondered if anything had happened.

AFAIK, RT is no worse than he's been for a while.

But there's a lack of money (I had to withdraw an offer I made some time ago, when I realized that in the current time and current situation, we could no longer realistically make this offer) which doesn't help to provide enough motivation at this time to come up with the needed new material for an album, rehearse a band that lives in 3 countries / 2 continents and record a new album.

    That's my best understanding/guess.

    Happy world we got here.

Looking at their facebook page it looks like they have played a couple of gigs this year which is a pretty good sign considering how many other thing Yoshida has going on (saw him in 2 bands at RIO this year).

what other bands is he in these days?

I heard Korekyojinn is still going - which is great because those guys totally rule. Great band for those who love the idea of Ruins but don't appreciate its more Dadaist/shrieky qualities

And I do see he's still doing Ruins Alone gigs.

Would love someone to come up with a list of worthy records he's done that aren't from Koenjihyakkei, Ruins, or Korekyojinn. I know they're out there!!!

Nice!! I've been waiting for that news since hearing Hundred Sights back in 2009 for the first time.

Bummer about Present's situation. But cool that Koenji is doing new stuff. They've had a couple of new songs that have been around for a while now.

There was a comment on that youtube link that said that they didn't like guitar in Koenji. I say bring it on. I love the guitar on the first 3 albums!

Yeah, that is too bad. I'm not familiar with their music, but still I'm sad to hear of their circumstances.

Regarding Present Steve summed up the situation
Somthing fundemental needs to change in order for this album to happen
And its a shame cause there are 2 fine composition by Roger and Regi
Koenji - dunno its been 12 years since their last studio album and the band were nothing short of amazing at RIO Japan 2 years ago - like a well oiled machine

Spotify and The Pirate Bay will undoubtably come to the rescue.

The upside of the loss of net neutrality under Der Donald is that the won't be much bandwidth for the criminal underground and the CALEA wiretaps will expose the terrorists who steal from Spotify. The downside is everything else, including more Spotify.
