Can't think of many, although some are obviously escaping me.

There are a few hip-hop tracks that sample Magma.

These two Magma/Vander tribute albums feature, of course, covers of Magma songs...

The Flying Luttenbachers (i.e. Weasel Walter) even appeared on a TV children's mock-show with the first of a total of three renditions of "De Futura" that they did. Quite bizarre really, as everything else about that band (and Walter's erstwhile endeavours):

    ^^^^

That may qualify for the most insane thing I've ever seen on YouTube.

I figured it HAD to be a parody, but I goggled it and it really is a kiddie (well, kiddies of all ages) dance show....with a puppet rat...

    Thanks for posting

    Well... damn... that happened, apparently.

You know, in some perverse way, that clip restores my broken faith in humanity.

Maybe Christian saw it and it was the thing that revitalized his career with Magma in the late 90s.

q^ Walter has specifically mentioned "De Futura" as a profound childhood memory which contributed in boosting his interest in becoming a working musician. I believe this version is the one from 1999 (there were two later renditions, including a lengthy workout), at the time when Walter was still cooperating with some serious manpower from the worlds of avant-jazz and contemporary composition, like Jeb Bishop and Ken Vandermark, and earlier Hal Russell (he still does, but apparently has settled somewhat more into "rock and beyond" mode). I always figured this TV appearance may have come about as a result of some personal/professional connection of sorts. Then on the other hand there's the fact that kids somehow always react with a certain fascination to the phenomenon of Magma-and-related.

I know this show!!! It's somewhat well-known in the Chicago area....everyone from around there's been on it.

^^ Ha-ha, well that sorta explains it then!

Still, at the time this was recorded, Chicago was arguably the "creative rock music" hotbed of the world - meaning that it was a damn good place to be even for a bunch of crazies like the 'bachers.

Btw, when I saw them live here in Oslo a few years afterwards (at Blå, a legendary modern jazz&contemporary venue), there were several bigshots present in the audience. Helge Sten was there, Lasse Marhaug, I believe I even caught a glimpse of Paal Nilsen-Love. IIRC, Mats Gustafsson appeared with them on stage when they performed in Gothenburg on that same tour.

I'm surprised there aren't more covers than there actually is.

Magma seems like a really difficult band to cover

I agree with Steve...that was crazy and very enjoyable.....at times like these, we need to just relax and enjoy something bizarre.

I bought this (still own it) for $.99

It's produced by Giorgio Gomelsky, which explains how this must have happened.

I don't think it's very good, but in 1981 or whenever it was that it came out, it's kind of novel.
