    Eddie Trunk interviews Derek Shulman

I found this by accident on youtube. I know this is old news but I thought it was interesting nonetheless. Derek talks mostly about the old days with GG and some of the 35th anniversary reissues.

N.P. One interesting thing about it is that this is probably the very first time I've ever heard Eddie mention the term "progressive rock" or any band associated with the genre(other than Rush). He even mentions Yes and Genesis at one point. I never knew that they opened up for GG either. That was news to me.

Funny, stumbled on the same video a few weeks back. Very interesting, and trunk asked good questions. As for prog, agree ET rarely talks prog outside Rush. But that changed in a sense this week -- his new siriusxm talk show had Wakeman, Rabin & Portnoy on this week (portnoy provide most of the insight though...).

Saw this when it came out. The thing that caught my attention, and other GG fans, was Derek's phony American accent.

At the 4:33 mark Shulman mentions that he remastered the CDs, but there's no mention of remastering on the DRT editions he released. Of course they've been superceded by the Alucard editions. This interview was included on the first GG DVD.

I didn't really notice that. I wonder what the reason was for that or if he was encouraged to talk differently than he usually does. Or maybe he just worked to eliminate his English accent?

Great interview, coulda done without the porn track blaring in the background though. Either Trunk is 7' tall or Derek is a little fella! Didn't realize he was short. He didn't seem short when I saw him, one of the greatest concerts I've ever seen

I had no idea the Eddie Trunk had been around that long and had real media experience, i thought he was just some heavy metal fanboy that had a cable access show a couple notches up from Waynes World. Better than i expected, learn something every day.

^^^No, I've seen some of the shows, he's pretty knowledgable for sure. He always seems prepared. The other two wankers are on there for god knows what, comedy relief?

My guess is Derek is about maybe five six and Eddie is about six two. I really have no idea though. That's just a guess.

Same here. I had no idea Eddie Trunk even knew about GG or prog in general. He's never mentioned Yes or Genesis on his show(or even used the "P" word). I doubt he's much of a prog fan in general but at least he knows what it is. But yeah, I thought he was not much more than a metal fan boy either.
