No surprise although why would anyone think the Cars deserves entry into any hall of fame is beyond me. When I first saw the list I guessed that either Journey or ELO (or both) would be selected over Yes.

They deserve the recognition. So, yes, it appears to be 'beyond' you.

They deserve to be in there as much as anyone.
Music isn't about chops, or even about talent - it's about sound and the way that sound communicates to people. Mike Keneally

YES should have been inducted long ago....................and eventually Journey will succeed if not this year.
    Not sure about the others.
I vote no on ELO..............Jeff Lynne was such a Lennon wannabee.

I don't think Pearl Jam or The Cars merit induction right now, personally (I'm not objecting to their inclusion per se though). Of course that means they will be in.

    I voted:

    YES

    Pearl Jam
    Kraftwerk
    Bad Brains

    But that's just me.

It would certainly be beyond anyone outside of the USA as they had minimal success internationally, so yeah a 'Hall of Fame' would not be appropriate in that regard!

Current results (as of 5:52 EDT, October 27):

    Journey 53,563
    ELO 49,415
    The Cars 45,913
    Yes 44,318
    Pearl Jam 43,410

(With Steppenwolf coming in a distant sixth with 30,286.)

I would be totally okay with those five getting in - although I personally voted for Kraftwerk and Bad Brains...

Well at least as much as most who are already in there.

I'm not making much of an effort with the voting this year, but I'm going with Yes, Journey, Kraftwerk, Pearl Jam and Depeche Mode.

*sigh* As a lifelong ELO fan, I want them to get in mainly for Bev Bevan's (and the late Kelly Groucutt's) sake....but if I had to be honest with myself, I think Jeff Lynne deserves to get in for his contributions through his overall entire body of work but not necessarily ELO itself

I said this exact thing a few days ago to my keyboard player...I think they both should be there, but they both should take a number and wait in line

What's the shorter list? Bands who aren't in the HoF?

I see no reason why The Cars shouldn't be allowed in. For most Americans they were the introduction to New Wave. I personally love New Wave. It is my second favorite genre to Prog. My vote has been
    1. Yes
    2. ELO
    3. the Cars

There is no one else I'm interested in voting for. Still want to see The Moody Blues get in one day.

The Moody Blues, Jethro Tull and ELP are the other major prog bands still not in the R&RHOF. King Crimson aren't in there either.

Also, you can vote more than once.

I have said the same. I think it's a pity that you can't 'bundle' inductions...there's no doubt to me that The Move are equally worthy of inclusion (covered by the likes of Todd Rundgren and Cheap Trick, the latter of which were put in last year!). For instance, it would have been good to have put in Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins' solo work at the same time as Genesis, rather than having them done separately (as Gabriel has). But perhaps we are forgetting the fragile egos of some rock stars here...'his solo work is being acknowledged, why not mine' etc.

If Bon Jovi can't get in then The Cars have no chance!

Well if we ask that then we can ask why hundreds if not thousands of other prog bands aren't in.
