My list would probably look like yours, except I'd move Where's My Thing into spot #2, I've always loved that one. I love them all, really. Broon's Bane is really just an extended intro to The Trees in my mind... my friends and I wore out side three of that live album back in the day. Brilliant stuff!

Just reading this list wears me out. I'm just not big on lists, but if was arsed to do this I don't think my list would be much different. Hope would probably be above Broon's Bane though. I think.

La Villa tops it, with YYZ, Malignant, and Monkey close behind. I've got a Rush instrumental playlist on my laptop that goes:

    Malignant Narcicism
    R30 Overture
    Main Monkey Business
    Hope
    Broon's Bane
    Where's My Thing
    Leave My Thing Alone
    Limbo
    YYZ
    La Villa

    Leave That Thing Alone
    Limbo
    Main Monkey Business
    Broon's Bane
    Where's My Thing?

I can only rank the ones I know (or that I remember)

    Strangiato
    2112 - Overture
    2112 - Grand Finale

    Big space

    Monkey Business

    smaller space

    Narcissism
YYZ (never found this one so great)

    OK...

    1- La Villa Strangiato
    2- YYZ

3.1- Where's My Thing? [This is incredible and is really above YYZ at times
3.3- Main Monkey Business [Also incredible. Peart once said "our magnum opus is on S&A" - he had to have been talking about this

    5- Leave That Thing Alone

6- Limbo [something didn't quite work here... sort of like a rough draft to TMMB, 1996 style.
    7- Malignant Narcissism [3rd best on S&A

8 -Hope [quite nice but should have been kept a safe 10 miles away from a Rush album.

    Limbo - Test for Echo
Leave that Thing Alone - Counterparts
Where's My Thing - Roll the Bones (no instrumentals on Presto)
Hope - Snakes & Arrows (short acoustic guitar piece)

I confuse the two "Thing" instrumentals since I heard them "after the fact"... i.e. I gave up on Rush with Grace Under Pressure and then sometime around 2005 I bought all the Rush albums that had been released since then to see what I had missed.

    Thx...

OK, I heard them on YT, and TBH, none would change the list I made above... they'd be on the YYZ level...

Except for Strangiato , which is really different, they're all kind of samey-sounding

How come nobody mentionned the two 2112 instrumentals >> they're both brilliant.

    1)La Villa Strangiato
    2)YYZ
3)Main Monkey (love the middle section)
4)Limbo (Probably held in higher regard by me than most, just always dug it)
    5)Where's My Thing
6)Leave That Thing Alone (got burned out after several tours)
7)Mal Nar (cool groove, but essentially just a fun studio goof)

Maybe I should have included them but I considered them more as part of the overall suite than a separate tune.
