No, I think you have about 5 minutes to delete it after you post and then the option goes away.
Is there something I can help you with?
Is that new? I thought you could always delete a post.
No, I WAS having trouble saving edits with a post today, and ended up posting two versions of the same post and could delete either. So I think there was some glitch, but I can't remember what thread it was in anyway. Not important, thanks.
I don't think it's new, no. Duncan can clarify though...
If you try to edit on a smartphone, it will delete it. My experience anyway.
I tihnk you have to get rid of your Partridge family albums before PE will let you post anything here....
I got nothin' :
...avoiding any implication that I have ever entertained a cognizant thought.

I have sometimes problems with editing a post. You press the edit button, than you can edit the text, but the buttons are still those of a normal post
so (Edit, Reply etc.) and there is no tool bar above.
I've never had any of these problems, and it has nothing to do with the 3 minute delay - WHICH WAS TEMPORARY AND HAS NOW BEEN ELIMINATED (it has been reset to the 30 seconds that has always existed on this site.)
The only time-specific system parameters are:
- If you edit within 5 minutes of posting, it doesn't say "Last edited by..."
- You can edit your own post any time up to 525,600 minutes after you posted it. (That's a year.)

It could be your browser. Update it.
Empty cache, delete cookies, try a different one.
Oh good, I'm not the only who noticed this. It wasn't always the case though. I don't use Tapatalk, I just use the mobile friendly version. Of course, posting on a tiny, soft keyboard for me (for someone who tends to fat-finger those tiny keyboards) usually means typos everywhere. I hate typos so I like that I can edit my posts, but I noticed about 6 months or a year ago that when you try to edit a post on the mobile version it just deletes the post. I'd rather delete the post than leave the post as is with typos. An innocent typo can totally change the meaning of the post. So not sure why we can't edit our posts using the mobile version. Mods?

EDITING a post in the mobile version...

Deleting one's browser also solves the problem.
<sig out of order>
It's still that way for me. I just tried to edit my last post, the one moecurlythanu quoted. I'm on the mobile right now. I touched the edit symbol, which looks like a pen I think, and as soon as I touch my screen to edit text it deletes it. Maybe I need to actualy type the reason for editing, er something.
Lemme try again.
FIRST - 2 questions:
1). When you say "mobile version" - do I assume you're talking about the WEB version of PE (not Tapatalk), that looks like this:
PE-Temp.jpg
Correct?
2). Does it do the same thing on a computer and on a phone or tablet?

Duncan
TEST ENTRY #2
Editing on the cell phone
Last edited by Duncan Glenday; 09-30-2016 at 07:33 PM. Reason: Test
See above. I just entered post # 22.
Then I went to my cell phone and changed the view to the "PE v3 Mobile" view.
Then I edited post # 22
It isn't deleted
Regards,
Duncan
Yes, Duncan I am using the WEB version, not Tapatalk. When I try editing a post using the WEB version it deletes the post. I haven't tried it on a tablet. It does not happen on my personal computer. It's weird because it wasn't doing that before. But it's not that important really. It's only frustrating if I'm trying to edit a long post and it just disappears. Most of the time it's something silly, and in that case it's better to just delete it anyway...
