I can quite understand your pain - after a brief revival under Silva, EFC seem to have reverted to type. Must be galling after spending over GBP 300 million on what looks like utter mediocrity. Apparently, though, you were pretty good for a lot of yesterday, and it's infuriating when the game is decided by a goal that was clearly offside.

Ultimately convincing win for LCFC on Saturday, though once again being slow starters threatened to cost us dearly. I'm still not convinced by Puel, mind; with that squad we really ought to be doing much better than we are. It's simply not acceptable to anticipate defeats against the so-called 'big six' and assume you've got a reasonable chance against everybody else. We're a potentially much better side than that, and we ought to start showing it.

West Ham showed yesterday that they have more going for them than the first awful month heralded. The win at Everton has definitely galvanised the team, but with Arnautovic out, we have no threat up front. Nonetheless we pretty much nullified a top 6 team in Chelsea, and had the better chances in a rather grim spectacle of a game. More top 6 ahead, I hope we can ruffle more feathers!

^it is West Ham v Man Utd in the early match on Saturday, which could be a good watch, I’ve seen some classics between these two over the years, though in recent years it’s mostly been in favour of the red United and Lukaku always scores against us!

Interesting article from Today's Guardian, suggesting that MUFC's current woes aren't all Maureen's fault:

Please don't hold your breath Ian, it's looking pretty grim for the barcodes, I really feel for the Geordie supporters. One of my best mates (another Ian) is a massive Newcastle fan, he has all but written them off this season, Mike Ashley has nigh on ruined a great club and there's little Rafa can do to save the situation.

Mind you my team were looking dead and buried after 4 games and seem t have turned a corner and started to play some excellent football. Things can change quickly in this league.

Everton win two in a row....maybe miracles do happen?

Here's hoping Newcastle destroy United in about 27 minutes.

If this holds, I cannot wait for Jose's post-match interview....gonna be quality entertainment.

If it wasn't for DeGea, United may be down 4-0 right now, not to mention a handball in the box not called.

So what was the final score?.............Oh yeah, 2-3 (believe me, MU almost didn't deserve to win that game.)

...Just finished watching LIV vs MC..........0-0 but Mahraz was a TOTAL DICK-FUCK for not even putting the PK ball on target....what a waste!!!

Not sure he was a total DF but he surely should not have been taking that penalty....should have gone to G Jesus....oh well. Good draw, slightly boring.

The stats they showed just before he took the kick said he had missed 3 of his previous 5 PKs - so now that is 4 missed out of 6!?! City seriously had no better choice?

Apparently the direction came from the bench so Pep might be the one to blame here. Those 2 points could haunt them this season at the end.

I refuse to talk about soccer until Newcastle win or the owner sells up.
