How We Live Re-issue (Marillion Related)

Before Steve Hogarth was the lead singer in Marillion, he did an album in 1987 under the name "How We Live." It is a wonderful album worth picking up and now re-issued with bonus tracks.

    Seriously, great album.

Hogarth's voice is so sublime on that one.

This thread inspired me to spin this one yesterday, and it's definitely an often-overlooked gem, if you like a well-produced pop.

The version I have has "You Don't Need Anyone" on it, and it sounds exactly like the version included as a B-side on Marillion's Holidays in Eden. Are they the same? Does Marillion actually play it, or are both versions from the How We Live band?

I'm listening to them on youtube now. It's interesting to hear the original version of "dry land" which later appeared on Marillion's "holidays in eden." I think the Marillion version is a bit better but it's still interesting to hear.

Where was You Don't Need Anyone a b-side? I only remember it as one of the lost demos included on the Holidays remaster, which is listed as a Moles Club Demo, so definitely them.

They also played it at the rarities and covers convention show, released as Friends thru Racket.

Also related, I've been listening thru the Public Image Ltd catalog recently, and was surprised to see Colin Woore was the session guitarist on This is What You Want...

I think it was a bonus track on that 10th anniversary compilation, six of one...

For some reason, Dry Land is one of those M songs most fans love that just never clicked with me.

But I do have a copy of the original How We Live cd signed by Hogarth.
