    Thinking Plague for early 2017

It seems that this is going to be released in January / February of 2017.

All the recording is done and Mike's doing final mixing with Bob D. in France in August, which gives us just enough time.

And MJ sent me a 'close but rough' mix of a 10+ minute track that has everything I think folks would want out of a new Thinking Plague album. And Elaine sounds awesome, of course.

    that is all.

Sweet. Just started getting into these guys and I think I'm hooked.

Thanks, PE. Like I need another addiction in my life.

Good news. "Decline and Fail" was IMO their best work, and I'm really interested to hear how they sound with a twin-guitar lineup.

Really looking forward to this one.

So extensive east coast tour to promote then?

    Anticipating.

And considering the sheer amount of actual music that's on their albums, I'm pretty impressed that it's merely been five years since the previous one. Seriously.

Without having heard any of the new material - but having heard this version of the band live - I'd say that it sounds more clear.

Listened to "Decline and Fall" a few times recently on long drives and the intimate time spent with the music gave me some newfound appreciation for the sheer level of detail, the unconventional instrumentation, and of course those vocals-as-if-played-on-a-keyboard. Very strange, very wonderful stuff. Next album is auto-buy.

    Great news indeed. Auto-buy !!!
Thanks for letting us know Steve F.

^^ Indeed. When I heard it was announced that he was joining Thinking Plague, I got pretty excited. I'm curious to see how his style of playing carries over into TP.

Hard for me to pick a favorite, but 'Decline and Fall' was certainly as good as any to my ears. But even if the new one sounds nothing like it, one thing you can count on is that Thinking Plague will never do an album that isn't meticulously great, without even the slightest hint of compromise of artistic integrity.

All is enough. Having seen them live twice in recent years the new album is an auto buy.

As regards modern progressive artists with some tenure and profience to speak of, only Änglagård seem to keep a higher average rating at the house of Gnosis.

I love all of their work, but back in '98 In Extremis was a paradigmatic turning point in my approach to contemporary progressive rock.
