    Ghostlights - Avantasia

    Any other fans?

It was released in January, and I can't stop listening to it. The list of guest singers is amazing. It is the seventh Avantasia concept, and my favourite since Tobias' first concept, the Metal Operas (99-02).

Tracklisting - Guest singers & their parts in brackets
    1. "Mystery of a Blood Red Rose"
    2. "Let the Storm Descend Upon You" Jørn Lande ("Temptation"), Ronnie Atkins ("Magician"), Robert Mason ("Scientist I")
    3. "The Haunting" Dee Snider ("Nightmare")
    4. "Seduction of Decay" Geoff Tate ("Scientist II")
    5. "Ghostlights" Michael Kiske ("Mystic"), Lande
    6. "Draconian Love" Herbie Langhans ("Eclipse")
    7. "Master of the Pendulum" Marco Hietala ("The Watchmaker")
    8. "Isle of Evermore" Sharon den Adel ("Muse")
    9. "Babylon Vampyres" Mason
    10. "Lucifer" Lande
    11. "Unchain the Light" Atkins, Kiske
    12. "A Restless Heart and Obsidian Skies" Bob Catley ("Spirit")
    13. "Wake up to the Moon" (Digibook edition bonus track) Atkins, Kiske, Lande, Catley, Mason

    The singers' bands:
Jorn Lande - Jorn, Masterplan, Ark, Beyond Twilight, Millenium, Vagabond, The Snakes , Heaven & Hell (tribute to Dio), Allen/Lande
    Ronnie Atkins - Pretty Maids
    Robert Mason - Warrant
    Dee Snider - Twisted Sister
    Geoff Tate - Queensryche
Herbie Langhans - Sinbreed, Seventh Avenue, Beyond The Bridge.
Marco Hietala - Nightwish (vocals & bass), Tarot
Sharon den Adel - Within Temptation, Aemen, After Forever, Heideroosjes, Delain, Ayreon
Bob Catley - Magnum, Hard Rain

I think I have this, but I recently went on an Avantasia splurge and can't remember them all. I liked most of it though - I really enjoy his combination of prog metal, classic metal, power metal, etc.

    Indeed.

I rank the seven concepts as follows:

    1. Metal Operas I & II
    2. Ghostlights
    3. The Scarecrow
    4. The Mystery of Time
    5. The Wicked Symphony
    6. Angel of Babylon
    7. Lost in Space I & II

I think his right to be advertised as the former singer of Queensrÿche has expired a couple of months ago, because a two-year period was agreed upon as part of the settlement in the lawsuit between Tate and Queensrÿche.

Fun fact: Mystery of A Blood-Red Rose was a candidate for the German entry in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. It finished 3rd (of 10) in the national contest in which the German ESC entry was determined; the winner was a young lady dressed up as a manga girl named Jamie-Lee Kriewitz - who finished last in the ESC. Would Avantasia have fared better?

They should have performed Edguy's Lavatory Love Machine.

My wife loves Avantasia. I like what I've heard playing in the car and around the house, though I haven't played really close attention to it.
