Just downloaded the first show of the Sting/Gabriel tour and was shocked to see this on the set list. Maybe Peter is thinking, "Hey Nad, let ME show you how to do it" Here's the link on dime:

Music isn't about chops, or even about talent - it's about sound and the way that sound communicates to people. Mike Keneally
Sting sang it when I saw it Friday night, not Pete.
So it was an even more outrageously Jamaican version...

I'll elaborate a bit more:
They were tight as a nun's quim overall. Watching Vinnie alone is always a joy, and he was flawless. Like I said, Pete's voice is just as rich and beautiful as ever, and Sting sounded just as good TBH, even though I largely prefer PG's vocals. I will say that "In Your Eyes" had my wife in tears, and I was pretty close myself watching her - its a gorgeous tune and the passion and joy that the musicians exuded on stage was something I couldn't put into words here - just a joyous moment in life, and certainly a high point of the show. Also, the good-natured non-arrogance between the two also made it a huge success - rather than compete they were there to embellish and in a way celebrate the other. Just a good vibe.
I like the Police, I like Sting, but I totally love PG's music more, and juxtaposing the two you begin to realize that whereas Sting's music is more-or-less songs or tunes, PG's tunes are more akin to journey's and speak to me in a much deeper fashion. Having said that, Sting is a beautiful writer and his music is a pleasure to hear - lots of hooks with some clever harmonic changes arranged in a unique way. I personally could do without "Roxanne", "Message in a Bottle", but its a small price to pay for such a good show. Also, you need to have an understanding of what this show is, and what it is not. Don't expect the complexity of a Keneally or Steven Wilson gig for instance, but it really does emphasize how good these guys are at writing quality pop music that can reach a huge audience.
It was a great date night for my wife and I, and although I spent a small fortune on tickets and a hotel, it was worth every penny and the perfect way to start my summer.
- I spent a fortune too but your review gives me hope that every penny is worth it!

Damn, now I wish I'd gotten tix!
Sorry! I was so excited that I started this thread before listening, never thinking that Sting would sing this. I do feel like a horses arse!

Sting sang it, PG wasn't even on the stage.
has he ever explained in an interview why he refuses to perform Genesis songs?
