The last two times I saw them Goodsall walked off stage. I hope he has grown up some since then.

I'm all over Kenwood Dennard on drums. One of my favorite 70s fusion albums is Joyous Lake by Pat Martino. Dennard is the drummer on that album. The band did a 3 night residency at a local jazz club when they toured Joyous Lake and I've been a big Dennard fan ever since. ...And he kills it on Livestock.
This got me interested in Joyous Lake, so thought I'd post a link to John Kelman's review (from last year) here. The comments are worth reading too:

Sounds like another good recommendation, Michael!

I blame Wynton, what was the question?

I used to have it on vinyl. Haven't heard it in a long time. Looks like Jack Lancaster has re-issued this on CD with new cover art on his own record label: http://verdantrecords.com/Cds.html
I have it....somewhere....

"And this is the chorus.....or perhaps it's a bridge...."
That would be the one that was destroyed in a bizarre farming accident.
Add me to the Jones over Jaco list. Jaco - AMAZING and beautiful, but the music he played on generally didn't click with me.
Wow! Great history lesson there, thanks.
I never saw any of the old lineups, but I did see the them during X-Communication and beyond. Also Tunnels probably a couple of times. Had a beer or two with Percy. Nice fella for sure.
Great album, that Joyous Lake.
If you don't want to pay $$ for the Japanese CD-version there's a fine alternative. The album has been re-released together with Starbright (1976) in 1 CD.
Discogs has this version: https://www.discogs.com/Pat-Martino-...elease/5062644 but my version is from 32 Jazz (1999).

I have the Ozone Records-version, which is I suppose the original one. It's nice, but indeed, don't expect Brand X. Personally I like Peter & The Wolf better.
There's also a recent Voiceprint CD-version (2014) with the original cover.
Recently found the re-issue of the first Fire Merchants LP (Goodsall, Chester Thompson on drums) and it smokes.
re: the previously mentioned $60,000 Yamaha synthesizer
Actually, it was merely rendered harmless by the farming accident. Then John Paul Jones sold Keith his Yamaha, and Keith cannibalized it to bring the first one back to life, but then it apparently caught fire one day in his home studio. Oy!

MJ12 (feat. Percy Jones) should be interesting.
