Just for fun....I think you're a freak if

...the first thing you do in the morning when you go in to the kitchen to prepare breakfast isn't one of the following

    1. grind coffee beans
    2. put water on to boil (for tea, coffee, eggs or whatever)
    3. warm up a pan or saucepan
    4. drink a glass of juice, water or milk

Coffee tastes a lot better with water. And milk. Juice, almost never drink it.

    Who eats breakfast?

Sometimes I make coffee first thing, sometimes I skip it. At work I drink a lot of coffee (we have a FREE coffee bar with baristas, fruit smoothies, etc - it's great!) but at home I can do without. While I like coffee in the AM it's more because I like a warm drink - the caffeine never really hooked me.

Yup, I very rarely eat breakfast either. Then again I work very odd hours so my general eating / sleeping habits are different from most people.

I work 2nd shift so have a little bit of a different life than people who work normal hours. I usually eat something at some point before I go into work in the afternoon and then eat something when I come home late at night. On weekends I eat at more normal times, but still don't do breakfast very often. I also rarely eat 3 meals a day.

Yea, but like I asked, what's the first thing you do to prepare your breakfast?

Yep, we had glass bottles as well in infant and junior school. For us they were replaced by cartons in the early 70s.

I only feed my cat in the evening. That works best.

    You had infant school?

Heh. I do something better than your four. I go downstairs to the kitchen and pour myself out a nice fresh cup of coffee, made from beans ground just a few minutes earlier: we have a machine that (a) grinds the beans (b) makes the coffee and (c) operates on a timer. Great way to wake up!

This is particularly good if you have an indoor-outdoor cat, so you can call it in reliably. Feeding your cat in the morning means you have a back-up if your alarm clock fails. Not great if you want to sleep in, but then everything is a trade-off.

And sure you want to feed the cat as a part of preparing breakfast, so the little furball isn't constantly underfoot when you start cooking.

Yea, that's what it was called over here in the 60s - ages 4 to 7. Then junior school was 8 to 12. Then secondary school ages 13 to 16.
Infant has never only meant baby. It has always meant young child as well.
