I wonder how they're going to tackle the unison drumming section of "Ritual"?

I saw this lineup last summer. If this tour comes to my hometown (or close) I will probably go, but my days of driving to Detroit or Chicago to see them are over.
"Henry Cow always wanted to push itself, so sometimes we would write music that we couldn't actually play – I found that very encouraging." - Lindsay Cooper, 1998
"I have nothing to do with Endless River. Phew! This is not rocket science people, get a grip." - Roger Waters, 2014
"I'm a collector. And I've always just seemed to collect personalities." - David Bowie, 1973
Having seen Yes at the Atlantic City show where they didn't really hold a candle to Toto, I am on the fence. If they could do something about the tempos and mix perhaps I would go. I may actually wait for Anderson and the boys in the fall or whenever.
Now if Jon and Roine and Brislin would get a band together that might really be exciting.

Some set list hints about the forthcoming European tour in this Q&A with Billy Sherwood: http://yesworld.com/2016/04/askyes-q...-6-april-2016/ May have implications for what gets played in the US in the summer.

Tickets purchased. Although I saw them last summer in Dayton (and they were actually quite good, tons of energy...shockingly enough) the lure of seeing Sides One and Four of Tales is too strong to resist.
Tales is my favorite album ever. And Drama's pretty awesome too.
And Columbus is only an hour away.
And no Toto or Styx to contend with. I like both those bands but I want as long a set from YES as possible.
Psyched.

Me too, aside from the fact that I did see/hear side 3 on the original Tales tour (not "The Remembering," though, which was dropped from the set by the time they got to my neck of the woods). I love Tales so much that I could be tempted to go even though I basically gave up on seeing Yes live long ago. But to do only half of it--and only the half that has already occasionally surfaced in the post-1974 set list, at that--is to my mind a sadly missed opportunity. If you're going to do this "whole album" shtick, do the whole album! I couldn't care less about hearing Drama; I know a lot of people love it, but that part's not a draw for me.

Here's a thought...whereas they won't play sides 2/3...do you think that Howe drops the Clap/Mood for a Day/Intersection Blues and plays the Leaves of Green section as his featured solo.
"So it goes."

That would be pretty cool, actually.
Music isn't about chops, or even about talent - it's about sound and the way that sound communicates to people. Mike Keneally
It's not clear. They've definitely written some material. The way they're talking might imply that they have written the new album.
In terms of recording, I'm guessing they've done some...? They've set aside some time later in the year for recording, so I presume the album isn't finished though. This was Anderson very recently: "I'm working with Trevor and Rick already on some musical concepts, so we start, er, next week a few things—I'm going down to see Trevor. And then we'll get together in June, in July and finish the concept". That would seem to imply that they've done some recording and will "finish" recording the album in June/July.

I was thinking that today. That would be perfect. I could imagine JD singing the song part.
I haven't seen Yes live since JA was in the band, but I may see this show for one reason alone: "Ritual." It's very close to being my favorite Yes epic ever, with "The Gates of Delirium" giving it a run for its money. I would love to see Sherwood tackle the bass solo. And if Sherwood and Davison join in on the percussion part, I could also imagine Alan White being fiery again just to keep up with them. The live performance of "Ritual" on the "Masterworks" tour made me reappreciate the song, and it hasn't shifted in my esteem since.
