So far nobody's got mine. I'll toss in a clue: it has to do with membership.

Cobra handling and cocaine use are a bad mix.
Mister Sturgeon :
I'm going to take a guess here - with my BS&T knowledge being 'none'!
Is it possible that Chicago is the only one of the bunch that does not have band members who are 'of a color Black' ??

Name the odd one out:
Yes, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Marillion, Porcupine Tree.
It's not about the music.
Yes has only one syllable in its name
Seriously? Pocupine Tree is the only one with its original lead vocalist...
Cobra handling and cocaine use are a bad mix.
I don't think you can really say that, since Pink Floyd and Genesis are both non-going concerns, and the same is probably true for Porcupine Tree.
You COULD say that PT are the only ones who never changed their lead vocalist... but that's not the answer I am looking for.
Well, I dare say that's true...
One could probably also pick a meridian of longitude and say all but one were formed east of that meridian. But no, it's something a little more obvious than that. Think about the identities of the band members.
Marillion is the only one that started out with a different band name Silmarillion...or that had a Scottish singer.
Wow, people are struggling with this one.
Lots of technically correct answers given so far, but...
With these "odd one out" quizzes, generally all except one of the items have something in common that is somewhat unusual or coincidental, perhaps very unusual.
So, if four of the bands formed north of the Thames, I'd say that's not especially unusual or noteworthy.
If all except one were formed in Hemel Hempstead, then that would be highly noteworthy.
So in this case, four of the bands have something in common which a lot of bands (probably the majority) don't, and which the fifth one doesn't.
Does it have something to do with band composition and who does or plays what?
All the members of four of the bands have released solo albums? And at I guess I'd say that not all the members of Marillion have released solo albums.
PT has an Aussie
Marillion has a Paddy
Genesis ended with a Yank
Yes has had Yanks
Pink Floyd is the only band that only had Brits in it.
oooohhh...FFS!!!!
Okay have a go at this one then. What does every band in Group A have that none of the bands in Group B have? This one IS about the music.
Group A
Black Sabbath
Black Stone Cherry
Black Oak Arkansas
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Group B
Black Star Riders
Black Label Society
Black Trip
Blacklodge
Blackfoot
There's one guy who worked with each of them at some point, except for one of the bands.
or
All of them have been raped by a current, past, or future affiliate of the Warner Music Group except for...oh, wait it's happened to all of them.
^^ Never heard of half of those.
This does, however, give me an idea for a different game, which I might describe later after a good night's sleep.
