No. But that doesn't mean he isn't afforded the same protection as every other fucking QB in the league.

Hell, Palmer took nearly the same hit in the pocket that Newton took, and the flags came flying.

Below the knees, in the pocket, QB is protected. That's the rule.

And that bullshit about him being a running QB? It's not like that's the first thing he does? He's not a RB who can sort of throw. He is a pocket passer who has more designed runs scripted for him than any other QB. But he's still a QB.

And, yes, he's petulant and self-serving and whiny. None of that means he doesn't deserve the same protection as every other QB in the fucking league.

I'll I'm doing is affirming how the sport has been officiated for quite some time. Stiffs like Eli Manning, Tom Brady, Joe Flacco, etc. are given higher levels of protection than running QBs. That's just the way it is.

If Cam Newton is hit lighter, will he promise to also go down amicably? My guess is, probably not.
