Funny how with some threads, as soon as I see the subject heading I know who the thread starter is. And it's usually PeterG.
Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse of the Heart
The Expression - Total Eclipse (of the Heart)
Not exactly the most common title for a song, but these two were both released in 1983 - not sure who was first.

Funny thing both albums were released in February 1974, so who did think of it first?

I dont want us to get into the field of obvious homages though, for example, The Clash's London Calling album image, which was a deliberate nod and a wink to the Elvis album.
The accidental stuff, with releases close(ish) in time is what I'm after. And we've already had a couple that were released in the same year.
Confirmed Bachelors: the dramedy hit of 1883...
Wishbone Ash 1976
1978
To be fair, much of that is due to Hipgnosis being mostly creatively shit during the late '70s.
I'm with Steve Howe.
Someone would have done it.
Music isn't about chops, or even about talent - it's about sound and the way that sound communicates to people. Mike Keneally
Nah... disqualified as that is an incorrect and unfair comparison with Todd, because that is not the album sleeve. And you're now messin' with my fav WA album!
That is a cropped image of the sleeve showing just the central of the 3 characters on the gatefold sleeve.
This is what the front of New England looks like:
And here is the whole photo
I actually included this VDGG homage to a painting in a paper I wrote on a history of ideas and culture course I took many years ago.
Oath of the Horati by Jaques-Louis David - being given swords
VDGG - being given a football or a watermelon? I was never quite sure
