"Theory of the Singular" with Nils Christian Moe-Repstad, NPM, Jan Bang, & Erik Honore.

Thanks for the other recs. I'll go hunting.

Anybody else in that scene a "must have"?

The only one I have is Dream Logic, but I see he has several others out. I went ahead and downloaded one called Electronique Noire which is pretty good, not quite as good as Dream Logic. Another one I sampled had spoken word poetry, yuk.

I'd consider others if they're any good 'uns.
EN is his first album. I would recommend, in addition to Dream Logic, his latest (I.E.), as well as Connected and Live Extracts. If you like those and want to go further, then Light Extracts and Sonic Codex.

None of his; you're thinking of Arve Henriksen Cartography, which had David Sylvian doing spoken word on two tracks; or Uncommon Deities, the Jan Bang/Erik Honoré collaboration.

If thinking of a NPM album, I believe Solid Ether's two Merciful tracks, with Sidsel Endresen, are somewhere in the netherworld between singing and spoken word.

    Too many to mention:

Hakon Kornstad: Symphonies in My Head and Dwell Time
Stian Westerhus: Pitch Black Star Spangled, and The Matriarch and the Wrong Kind of Flowers
Mats Eilertsen: Skydive, SkyDive Trio, Radio Yonder
    Elephant9 - all four albums (!)
Jan Bang: ...and Poppies from Kandahar
Arve Henriksen: Cartography, Sakuteiki, Strjon, Places of Worship and The Nature of Connections
    Erik Honoré: Heliographs
In the Country: This was the pace of my heartbeat, Whiteout

That's just a few. The scene is massive. There is so, so much more.
I would read my four "JazzNorway in a Nutshell" articles, as I was exposed to so much during that time. They'll give you a good cross-section. Also, add my Punkt Festival reviews and you've even more.

Wow, thanks for the input. Time to mortgage the cat again.
