There's an audio file of a show where Steve Winwood sat in with The Dan for Pretzel Logic. I think it was 2009. It's of course, quite good. Maybe they'll do some more of that this time around.

I've blown off a few opportunities to see Steely in recent years. I mean, if I lived in NYC I'd go to at least a couple of those Beacon Theater shows but down here they only come to the Hard Rock for one night and it's usually on a Wednesday night. Screw that, I'm a working man. But, I love Steely Dan. My Springsteen binge kinda led me back to my Dan collection. Great band. I like the original band with Skunk playing guitar and pedal steel. I like all their albums (well, the ones I have, the first album up through Aja) but the first two are my favorites.

Steely Dan with an orchestra sounds kind of awful to me. Surprised there's enough of a demand for that many shows at the Beacon.

If it's just an orchestra playing in unison with the riffs, boring. If there's some arrangements with something interesting happening, that could be special.

I saw them last week. Fun show but Winwood didn't sit in with SD.

Going to see them next month at "Woodstock;" Winwood is on the bill. No orchestra, afaik.

I'm afraid I agree with this. Nothing the Dan ever did strikes me as symphonic. A large jazz ensemble I'd get. Lots of horns, sure. Big percussion section, maybe. String section... can't hear it.
