Whilst the SAHB albums are inconsistent there is some stellar material on them!
Am not familiar with his career outside of SAHB!

I'd love to get this but for $254 I guess I'll have to pass.

An auto-buy for me. I have all the albums on vinyl plus some singles and the Universal's 2-in-1 double 'cd's but these has some mouthwaterin' rarities. Especially outtakes from the "Live" album.

I love this guy but he's one of those artists I really just need a greatest hits album from. Way too much material here. And I really prefer to experience this band visually, rather than on CD. I'd rather watch some of the old concert videos than listen to a CD.
You say Mega Ultra Deluxe Special Limited Edition Extended Autographed 5-LP, 3-CD, 4-DVD, 2-BlueRay, 4-Cassette, five 8-Track, MP4 Download plus Demos, Outtakes, Booklet, T-Shirt and Guitar Pick Gold-Leafed Box Set Version like it's a bad thing...

My first experience with Alex was on TV. I remember him painting Vambo on the fake wall above the drums and then breaking through the wall during Framed. His live shows must have. Even very entertaining. Wish I could have seen him live.

Yes, they've missed a trick by putting the OGWT stuff as audio-only. His unhinged performances of 'Next' and 'Delilah' are a joy to behold.

Got it yesterday and while I haven't had a chance to listen it didn't disappint visually. The book has a nice essay and some great old photos.

The OGWT 'Give My Compliments To The Chef' is one of the greatest ever for that show. Its brilliance is so obvious the notoriously sedate crew applaud at the end!

I see the Live album has unreleased tracks recorded at the Hammersmith Odeon. Does anyone know if these are from the same show as the Live album. I'm not sure where that album was recorded.

Looked it up and I see that the Live album was recorded at the Hammersmith. If these bonus tracks are from that same show they should have just put the whole show as recorded on the CD. That would have been great.

Well, yes and no. The Hammersmith tracks on added to "Live" and also to "Tomorrow Belongs To Me" are a bit rougher sounding and for example "The Tale Of The Giant Stoneater" doesn't work as great on stage as it does on the album wihout all the strings, brass and acoustic piano etc. "Sergeant Fury" is good 'though.

The Ragnarok '74 and Leicester '76 live stuff is brilliant.

I would suppose the Giant Stone Eater would be hard to pull off live. Surprised they even tried.

My cuz just got this and raves about it. Over 50 previously unreleased tracks apparently?

I was so lucky to see SAHB as one of the first three gigs I attended. I saw Camel playing the Snow Goose and then SAHB and Thin Lizzy practically a few weeks apart, I can't remember the order. However to my 14 year old self, the show that lives on so majestically in my memory is the SAHB one. I never saw them again, but they were one hell of an experience, and that Live album has remained one of my all time favourites, I never tire of it.

As much as I would like this collection, especially for the expanded Live material, it is frighteningly expensive on Amazon UK right now. I'll need a few beers before I press buy!
