    Soundtracks w/ prog leanings

Perhaps I'm not really in the prog realm per se - but hey... just wanna get some more music with cool and interesting arrangements and instrumentation for the new year... since work is draggin' horribly atm.

I will submit one of my favorite scores - Ravenous

I think Nobuo Uematsu can be pretty damn proggy.

His most recent take on Dancing Mad, from Final Fantasy VI

The first one that comes to mind for me is the soundtrack to Twin Peaks by Angelo Badalamenti. Very good stuff.

The new score for The Hateful Eight by Ennio Morricone is quite dark, with many avante-garde aspects to it.
Day dawns dark...it now numbers infinity.

My favourite is still Colin Towns' "Full Circle":

Ennio Morricones recent Hateful Eight soundtrack sounds a lot like Univers Zero .

It must be that dark oboe melody.
no tunes, no dynamics, no nosebone

The Hateful Eight employs some of Ennio's unused cues from John Carpenter's The Thing, so that might be why you get a UZ vibe.

Will there be a Morricone-only version of the soundtrack, or is the only one planned the current one with all of the "penalty tracks"?

Lots of Goblin, e.g., Suspiria and Profundo Rosso.

Potentially VERY long list...off the top of my head with minimal thought:

    Kreng - Cooties
    Air - Virgin Suicides
    Ennio Morricone - The Humanoid
Blanck Mass - The Strange Colour of Your Body's Tears (technically a re-score, but pretty awesome)
Ulver - Svidd Negar / Lykantropen
    Rob - Maniac
Sinoia Caves - Beyond the Black Rainbow (EPIC psychedelic/synth soundtrack from the keys dude from Black Mountain)

Will probably think of more, but here's a start...
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

Also, Ephemeral Sun: it's a thing and we like making things that might be your thing: https://ephemeralsun.bandcamp.com

An absolutely wonderful marriage of the two bands.

    I dunno. I'd prefer all E.M.

Air's "Virgin Suicides" immediately came to my mind as well, as the filmwas set in the '70s. (Also the band from which Moon Safari got their name, yes?)

Tangerine Dream and Goblin are a given in these kinds of threads.

Phase IV made its first appearance on vinyl last year. The CD is coming soon. The film's music was composed by Brian Gascoigne, Desmond Briscoe, David Vorhaus and Stomu Yamashta. http://www.soundtrack.net/album/phase-4/
