Yeah you never know with ceremonies sometimes. I was listening to a handicapper on the radio last weekend, and he claimed that pre-game cermonies cause the home team to lose more often than not and had some staggering numbers to back it up.LOL But regardless...I hope the Rangers give it all they got for McDonald's family and friends. Should be a special night, with some high flyin hockey. (hopefully lol) Enjoy bruthah!

Rangers then make their way to Montreal to play the St-John's Ice Caps!

We gotta get some of our players back because this season Price isn't going to win us any games singlehandedly!

Emotional ceremony as Steven McDonald was given a moment of LOUDNESS prior to his wife Patti Ann & son Sgt. Conor McDonald being escorted to center ice by Messier & Graves for the ceremonial puck drop. Wonderful renditions of "Oh, Canada" (by trumpet) and "The Star Spangled Banner" (sung by NYPD officer Lauren Leggio).

Edit- TO opens the scoring 5 minutes in.

That's definitely a different team you have their buddy! I think if you make a couple of adjustments on D, that team is gonna be trouble! Took a lot of bad penalties too (of which we couldnt capitalize on ) Fun to watch offensively. Looks like Babcock is starting to bleed through

Meanwhile, the Rangers were still on vacation...

Leafs looked very solid and balanced in beating the Sens last night 4-2. The much disliked Kadri was the sparkplug. It was actually reassuring to see so many blueshirts in the stands again last night. Probably only the Sens' second sellout of the year after the night they retired Alfie's number. Sens' powerplay continues to be their weakness.

Was great to see Chucky back last night. There was also some guy wearing 65 out there but he didn't seem to last too long.

It was a decent game, but I do think the Leafs were a bit rusty. If not for a couple of goals King H would like to have back, it might have went either way. You guys did the best job in the last month or so of stiffling Matthews, it was his quietest game in a while. Anderson robbed your boy there on that wicked shot he unleashed on the PP. Hopefully if they play again, both teams will be at their best. We'll take the two points, and the back to back road wins ... honestly I was shocked they beat the Sens the next night. Gotta say, it's nice having a rejuvinated eastern conference! Caps look great. Jackets look great. Habs playing well despite injuries. Pens and Rangers always good. Lower lites like Canes and Leafs and playing well. The current state of the lightening is the big let down.

Sorry to report that Clarke MacArthur has been told he won't be allowed to play this season. He's been working very hard to get back into game shape since suffering his fourth concussion in training camp. He must have had another setback as he was scheduled to have his final medical tests to get clearance to return to playing.

That means the Sens will be much more aggressive in looking for a top-6 forward to fill Mac's shoes/skates. There is a lot of chatter about Matt Duchene, but the odds are that he will go to Carolina for a defenseman prospect. If the Sens were to get him, it would cost them Cody Ceci or Thomas Chabot (the latter is a non-starter, but Ceci is a possibility).

I'm sure Andrew Ladd could be had for a pile of magic beans and eating some salary.

The Sens have had their share of Ladd-like acquisitions, so I feel your pain. Phaneuf and Bobby Ryan have salaries and are showing career declines that could mean some serious salary eating in the not too distant future.

Sucks to hear when a player goes down with head issues like that. I hope MacArthur makes a healthy recovery.

I thought you were done here? Good to see your boys finally dumped Capuano...I've always liked Doug Weight and hope he does well. Well...not well enough to change their position in the standings...but well.

Big win last night for the Sens in Toronto, completing a 3-0 road trip. This win puts them in good shape vs. Boston and Toronto, but there are a lot of games left to be played. I hesitate to say it was a classic in the "Battle of Ontario", as it wasn't a particularly rough game. It was a match between a fast and talented, but inexperienced team vs. an older, slower, more defence-oriented team. Leafs carried the play of most of the second and a good portion of the third periods, outshooting Ottawa by a fair margin. Interesting that Boucher had 2 defencemen and a third-liner (Pyatt) out in the last minute of overtime. I guess he liked his chances against the Leafs in the shootout.

Huge 1-0 OT shutout win in a great game yesterday in Detroit for NYR. Back home in a few hours vs. Kings. Surprised Henrik gets the start again after the "workout" he had yesterday.

The Flames will be happy to return to the West after their disastrous back-to-back poundings in Toronto and Montreal.

And hopefully one more beat-down Thursday in Ottawa. Douse the Flames!

Just heard on the radio that Cyrille Leeder, the Sens President just resigned and has been replaced with the former Leafs CEO, Tom Anselmi. Leeder was one of the orginal three founders of the Sens, along with Bruce Firestone and Randy Sexton. He's been instrumental in all of the significant developments in the Sens history. This is a big loss for the team as it prepares its plans for a new rink downtown.

ed. After reading an article, it turns out Melnyk fired Leeder and brought in the guy who "built" the ACC, BMO field and some other stuff in Toronto. Leeder was involved in the building of the CTC so it's not like he doesn't know anything about rinks, but this Rendezvous Lebreton project is much more than just the new rink, so I guess Melnyk thought that Leeder was in over his head. Kind of a shitty way to thank the guy for 25 years of service to the franchise. Hopefully, some other team will realize he's a bright and capable guy and hire him on.

Habs were pwned by the Isles last night. Don't let that final score fool you into thinking this wasn't a serious thumping... Only good thing that came out of it for the Habs is that Price appears to be back. It could have easily been 7-1 last night if not for him.

    Ken Hitchcock has been fired.

One of the Ottawa radio guys kept going on about it being a bad situation for the team to have a lame duck coach and the coach in waiting. He argued that it was confusing and upsetting to the team chemistry or some such nonsense. Maybe Hitchcock just wore out his welcome in St. Louis like he has in every other place he's coached.
