Don't look now but the Sens swept California! Five in a row all told and starting to crawl back into the wild card race. They're still 7 points behind Boston, but they have 2 games in hand. Of course, there's also the matter of having to climb over the Flyers and the Panthers before they can catch the Bruins. Oh well, it's better than watching Connor McDavid highlights. (What a phenomenal talent!)

It would be easier to accomplish if there weren't any 3-point games. Right now it's looking like 7 of the 8 spots in the East are taken. The last spot should go to Boston. I would be very surprised to see any other team knock them out of the playoffs, though I'm hoping it occurs. You will recall when the season was still young I predicted that the Bruins would not be the powerhouse they once were. I did not expect them to slip this far though.

Flyers finally score against, and then beat the Rangers.

WOAH!! Huge trade between Rangers/Arizona! Keith Yandle comes to NY for John Moore, Anthony Duclair (this one kills me...kids gonna be a star) a 1st and a pick. We needed a D man to solidify the 6 so there ya go!

Hopefully Yandle can find his game again. He's been pretty terrible this year. Lots of giveaways and less offence than in past years.

Agreed about Duclair. He was tremendous in the Worlds this year. A big hitter and a nose for the net.

Yeah my thoughts as well. Yandle does have 41 pts though. Rangers have 5 solid defensemen for him to be paired with. Hopefully this is the spark he needs.

If the Rangers had just re-signed Stralman instead of Boyle they wouldn't have had to make this trade at all and still have Duclair. Kid's got a lotta upside at 19.

Maybe a loss to the lowly Flyers was a wake-up call.

Wow, Sather's been busy tonight! Stempniak to Winnipeg for Carl Klingberg and just now I read we got James Sheppard from SJ for a 4th. I like Sheppard...tough kid who can chip in on the bottom lines. Don't know much about Klingberg other than he's a frustrating forechecker.

Rangers been busy indeed! I'm wondering if the Habs will make a move today.

I already have my answer. Habs acquire Jeff Petry from Edmonton for a 2nd and 5th. One of the things on Bergevin's list was a big defenseman that shoots right. I like this move.

Puck Daddy's Trade Day Drinking Game

    Take One Drink When ...

    • Any trade is announced.

    • Anyone on the TSN or Sportsnet panels looks down at their Blackberrys for more than a 5-second count.

    • A player acquired is called "the last piece of the championship puzzle."

    • The phrase "what we're hearing" or "according to sources" is uttered.

    • They throw to reporter on location in a Canadian city.

    • Tim Murray, Peter Chiarelli, Dave Nonis or Ron Hextall are mentioned.

    • The phrases "Buyers" and/or "Sellers" are used.

    • A draft pick in a trade is conditional.

    Take Two Drinks When ...

    • A fake Twitter account dupes a member of the MSM.

    • You fall victim to a fake Twitter account of a MSM personality.

    • A captain, like Dion Phaneuf or Andrew Ference, is traded.

    • A player says he found out he was traded through social media or TV.

    • Sportsnet brings on a surprise panelist that doesn't have a tie to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

    • Doug MacLean dogs any move made by the Blue Jackets and somehow shoe-horns in a praise of Rick Nash.

    • The trades of the past few days are reviewed.

    • Salary retention is part of any deal.

    Take Three Drinks If ...

    • Either network starts talking about the potential Canadian rosters for the 2016 World Cup or 2018 Olympics.

    • The total number of trades for the trade deadline falls below Bovada's over/under of 15.5.

    • The Toronto Maple Leafs are determined Trade Deadline Day winners.

    • Phil Kessel, Dion Phaneuf, Ryan O’Reilly, Mike Richards or Patrick Sharp are traded. Take another if they're dealt for one another.

    CHUG IF ...

    • One network refutes a trade reported by the other.

    • There are more bodies on the TSN and Sportsnet sets than there are trades.

    • Either panel begin debating the color of The Dress.

    • Llamas randomly run through either studio.

    • A player cries after learning he's been traded.

Wait until you see him play.

Seriously though, Petry is a solid blueliner who should do fine with the Habs.

I did read where the 5th is a conditional. If the Habs make it through 2 series, that 5th becomes a 3rd.

We played Edmonton a few weeks back and I recall he was a pretty solid checker. Habs were hoping some of their young prospects could step up but guys like Tinordi just can't seem to make the jump into the NHL.

Habs pick up Flynn from Sabres for a 5th(?) rounder in 2016. I don't know anything about this guy. I'm guessing he's a 4th line guy?

    !

    That's pretty clever!

Did you notice a Leaf jersey come flying onto the ice in Montreal on Saturday?

Habs fans can't really be bothered with the woes of the Leafs. You've fallen completely off our radar. Now if the Bruins were to have a similar dry run...
