This is the reason I've barely seen one of these in years. Either I'm at someone's place at a hang-out-on-game-day-though-nobody-cares-about-the-game kind of party, or else home and not bothering to watch anything. In recent years I only remember the Stones (a ridiculously short mini-medley) and Black Eyed Peas (an absolute embarrassment in every way).
Honestly I'd say the last noteworthy one was Michael Jackson. Back then the NFL was apparently willing to give the artists a little breathing room and they picked a great performer to make use of it. Say what you will - that man knew how to put on a show. Since then they've only gone for calculated corporate spectacle and micromanaged everything down to the split second, squeezing out whatever actually makes for a good show in the process.
HENNY Youngman.
