ÖZ ÜRÜGÜLÜ - Forgotten Archives Swiss Oriental Progressive Jazz Experimental

    And now for something fun
    Odd time signatures + Oriental +Progressive ? Jazz +Experimental = Secret Chiefs 3 ? Estradasphere ? perhaps but also
    ÖZ ÜRÜGÜLÜ
Their debut CD Forgotten Archives is an odd-meter / proggy mixture of Steve Vai and Mr. Bungle -- exotic scales played on sitar, horn section, theremin, keyboards, and heavy rock band. It's hard to tell how many members are really in the band and what they're playing at any moment.
Whoever they are, they're all highly-skilled and having a lot of fun.
Even the wild circuit-bending and techno dance beats are catchy and cool. It's not easy to get me to bob my head up and down, but these guys somehow did it.
This is an impressive young band with a lot of compositional talent. I'm anxious to hear what they do next."

Its always nice with a band name you can pronounce

Good playing, lots of great ideas, interesting tracks, but (there is always a butt) the music lacks a bit of a 'bandfeel' - I hope they will continue and make a follow up !

All those umlauts. How does the pronunciation of the band name differ from what it would be if there were no accents?

Assuming the price point was/is feasible, these guys would be a slam-dunk at Chez Storybrook over Labor Day...
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

Thanks for reviving this thread. Saw this on bandcamp last week, loved it, posted it in the New Releases thread, but had no recollection of where or when I started following them on bandcamp. Mystery solved.

You might find spoken excamples here for Öz and Ürü (ÜRÜGÜLÜ is fake Turkish I think)
