    Wow. No mention of Mina?

Actually I know next to nothing about Italian pop and only heard of her because I saw a list of the top ten albums from Italy in 1971 that had an album by her in it surrounded by King Crimson, PFM, Genesis, VDGG etc. Apparently she's one of the most famous female singers from Italy though.

I must say, I've never heard of Mina, but today I did come across a singer that's new to me, Rita Pavone on an RCA Italiana 7" singing two songs from an Italian TV costume drama, probably televised in the 60s or 70s.

Rita was one of the few Italian pop stars to have a hit on U.S. pop radio:

An italian friend made me aware of the band 'I Pooh', who are quite an insitution in Italy afaik.
Now i like them a lot, and i believe it's a shame they have not enjoyed an international success.

I Pooh remind me a lot of the Moody Blues, but with Italian vocals. I really like some of their tunes:

    I Pooh!!
Wonderful band, composed of 4 incredible professionals, each one of them is a master with his own instrument, and all of them sing! They produced fantastic vocal melodies, wrote their own songs and made a massive success in Italy.
They are the most important italian band, there's no doubt about it.

    Some of my favourite songs:

    ...and then again:

They also released this one, ''Another Life'', the english version of their 1985 italian hit-single. It should have been a hit all around the world.

Also, thanks for NOT posting "Tarzan Boy" by Baltimora or Scotch's "Delirio Mind".

La Bottega Dell'Arte is another good example.

Here's the B side to Adriano's 1970 San Remo song. I much prefer it to the A side. The intro has a touch of Dexy's Midnight Runners about it.

Amedeo Minghi, besides a renowned singer is a famous composer, he composed music for Andrea Boccelli, Gianni Morandi and many others.

Surprised that no one mentioned Peppino di Capri, thus far.

this must be the german pressing. if you look at the label it has his original pseudonym RAF while the sleeve says RAFF. while R.A.F. will have rather positive connotation in the UK, in 1980s germany this was not such a good idea… (RAF = red army fraction > baader meinhof gang).

titles/monickers altered due to current political issues or general (territorially oriented) PC? i reckon that this warrants a thread of its own.

Has Enrico Ruggeri’s “Peter Pan” been mentioned yet?

Exactly, in Germany and many neighbouring countries in fact, Holland and the Nordics, he was called RAFF, rather than RAF (Red Army Faction). My copy is a Finnish pressing.

This was the song where I first listened to her:

    Gerardina Trovato - Vivere (G.Trovato; A.Anastasio; C.Valli)

    Love her!

    Two recent acquisitions:

    1.
Lady Barbara by Renato dei Profeti, 1970. Which at about 40 seconds changes to a different thing altogether then at about 1.10 changes again, this time to a completely different style, melody and tempo. A beautiful song.

    2.
Se m'innamoro by Ricchi & Poveri, winner San Remo Festival '85.

Forgot that he's a French singer and composer, and as such I think he would not be valid for this thread purposes.

But then I'm adding one more song with music composed by Ennio Morricone that I found really beautiful, happened to know it not far ago, sung by the GREAT singer Mina Mazzini:
