I preordered the 2CD and Blu Ray sets from Amazon...pretty sure the final tally for both products was around $35.

If this edition was the ONLY way to get the album, that would rather suck. But it isn't. The regular retail versions are VERY reasonably priced. This is a novelty/boutique set for folks who might want it. Probably won't sell more than a handful; for those folks, they'll be happy. For the rest of us, we're covered

Not sure exactly how this translates into RW's desperation for money or anything else.
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

    $8.75/disc isn't bad though.

...I always did, and to this very day still do, believe that The Wall was a bloated P.O.S......I really do not understand the reverence for this.

Mother, do you think they'll buy this set?

I think on the next tour he can build a wall with the 500 copies of this set.

I bought it and am married - but the set is still hidden.

I should put it in a trunk and use that as a coffee table. It'll be like the Hitchcock movie "Rope."

Right, but they also expanded their fanbase, so many of those new fans rushed out to buy DSotM, WYWH, Animals and The Wall.

Given that he wrote Money and Brick in the Wall Pt2 which get the most radio play and pretty much all the songwriting credits on their biggest selling album were his I'd say way out front.

But it's 5 1/2 feet when opened and weighs 25 lbs!

Also, not really fair to compare this to the Crimson boxes. I paid a fraction of this for Thrak and will be getting much more audio content, so "quantity" wise it's still a better deal than $500 (obviously)

Ahh, the irony of that great Rolls Royce proletariat bemoaning selfishness and corporate greed, milking this bloated cow for all it's worth. Absolutely delicious!

To be fair Roger has said he "struggles" with reconciling his socialist leanings and the fat stacks of capitalist lucre he makes

Me as well. The piece/concept/whatever didn't have much subtlety to it to begin with....and then Roger had to uh, hammer the concept home that we had all gotten long ago, from his (and Gilmour's) original presentation. It's not brilliant, and I would say so mainly for the fact that it is written from the point of view of a poor, rich, 'tortured' rock star...and who can relate to, or sympathize with that? Poor Pink, with his groupies and guitars. And Roger somehow equates it to the social importance of 'Guernica'.

Animals was a million times better and I wish they had broken up after that.

Perhaps Roger said it best... "Tear down 'The Wall' ."

We should all have such struggles. I wonder if he loses any sleep over this?

But seriously, I appreciate a differing voice & argument. It keeps me thinking & prevents me from becoming smug in my world-view. But some of these "do-as-I-say-but-not-as-I-do" guys really need to be rapped about the noggin.

Roger Waters, like him or not, is VERY active supporting charities and causes he believes in:

    Charities
    Amnesty International
    Bob Woodruff Foundation
    Crisis
    Hoping Foundation
    Human Rights Watch
    Live 8
    Robin Hood
    Save The Music Foundation

    Causes supported
Adoption, Fostering, Orphans, AIDS & HIV, Children, Creative Arts, Economic/Business Support, Education, Homelessness, Human Rights, Poverty, Refugees, Slavery & Human Trafficking, Veteran/Service Member Support

I'd like to think that his biggest critics are similarly charitable with what they support. But, I know better.

With the amount of money he makes, one would hope, dare I say expect, that's he's a charitable bloke.

Of course, the data proves otherwise.

A quick Google search will prove otherwise. Besides, most non-capitalists (Occupy Wall St, BLM etc) tend to prefer to be on the receiving end of generosity.

All great causes to be sure, and I applaud him for supporting any charities at all. I do wonder why he wouldn't put some of his contributions toward our ignored global mental health crises, considering he made the majority of his fortune exploring (exploiting?) 'madness', in 70s parlance.

And no animal charities? He made some bank on them too
