    Canadian hard rock 1974

Just listening to Not Fragile - BTO and reflecting what a great year 74 was for Canadian hard, heavy and even brutal rock, well at least as far as my tastes and the vinyl on my shelf goes anyway.

BTO , Not Fragile - the best BTO lp IMO.
    RUSH, s/t debut - their heaviest & a fav
    APRIL WINE, Live - classic
NEIL YOUNG, On The Beach - has always been in my top 5 NY albums.

    Dellinger - s/t
A Foot in Cold Water - All around us
Mahogany Rush - Child Of Novelty

    Hard rock?? YMMV

BTW, NY's OTB is one of his bluesier album... the following Tonight's The Night and Zuma rock much harder, IMHO
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.

Surely you've heard of Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush for the time you've now been hanging around here (Btw; only Child Of Novelty is really hard rocking in their first five albums)

    As for the other two:

(they might be hard to find though)

(this should be easier, though careful of bootlegs & pirates)

Though Dellinger was theoretically also Québécois (Montreal-based), but English-speaking (and singing) band (as was Mahogany Rush), Quebec had a bunch of rocking band

This Québécois hard-rocking band of Offenbach sang in French

Octobre was also close enough to hard rock, they released Nouvelles Terres in 74

one could also think of a third French Speaking hard rocking band called Dyonisos, but released nothing between 72 & 76

    Sex (two albums in 70 & 71)

Frank Marino is absolutely amazing. Probably the best player I've ever seen.

Accidentally deleted a post, which is why my BTW post sounds odd.

By the other two I was referring to Dillinger and Foot in Cold Water.

As for MR, I was never a fan, that said I do have one solo Frank Marino lp. I had no idea they were Canadian.

Big fan of BTO here! "Not Fragile" was the first album I ever owned. I dropped big hints about it with my older brother and finally got it for Christmas in 1974. Just re-listened to it from start to finish about 10 times during the past month. I agree that it's their best though there are lots of great tracks spread out across their output. Randy Bachman has always been a great guitarist despite his barely-above-marginal vocal abilities, but even then, there's an authenticity present that I find likable.

Thanks also for the Dillinger, Trane. Sounds quite interesting!
