Chris Whitley - blues guitar god I somehow never heard

I saw a list posted on Facebook of Joe Bonamassa's top "under-rated" guitarists. I'd heard of most of them but never heard of Chris Whitley. I streamed his first CD and I realized that I heard "Big Sky Country" back in the day. It's not just the guitar though, his voice is incredible. Is anyone familiar with his stuff? Where should I begin?

I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down.'- Bob Newhart

I am a fan. I can give you a really good place to start and it is an album called "Long Way Around : An Anthology 1991-2001" , a very good compilation album . If you like it and want to explore further just go back to the start of his catalog and work your way forward , they are all good . One of the things that drew me to him was that his albums are different from the one before.

    This :

My favorite album whith Chris Whitley, and yes he is under-rated.
This album is not typical for him, its more raw power and has less country vibe.
