We've all heard of the 27 Club (musicians who died at 27) but what age of death for a musician is the second most common? Is there a 31 Club that has two less members than the 27 Club?

The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off
Ah, thanks for that. Just confirms my suspicion: everything I've ever been told by anyone is complete bullshit.

I dare say those who like to believe in popular myths such as the 27 Club won't read the article in full and try to understand it. Statistical analysis is not an easy concept to grasp, for those not numerically inclined, and it's much easier to say "Bah, those scientists, what would they know?"
Thanks for posting the link - pretty much confirms my expectations. There is nothing special about age 27... but there ARE factors that make it more likely that someone will die young if they are a pop musician, if you follow this link that he provides to the results of his own research: https://theconversation.com/stairway...industry-32735
The graphs start about halfway down.
He uses a word I have not seen before: "valorises".
w/o looking at the link I'm sure the biggies in the 27 Club are Hendrix, Joplin, Morrison and Jones.

There was actually a video from a classic rock site that went over the why of the "27 club". It was kinda silly.
"Alienated-so alien I go!"
Incidentally, when Courtney Love said "He's gone and joined that stupid club", did she actually mention the number 27? She may have simply been referring to the club of musicians who took their own lives.

Whenever I read about musicians who die young or commit suicide because of mental health issues, I marvel at the fact that Brian Wilson is still with us.

If you make it past 27, you've got a century of smooth sailing ahead of you.
"Corn Flakes pissed in. You ranted. Mission accomplished. Thread closed."

Jazz musicians were dying young before it was hip to die young.
How old was Daevid Allen when he died?

77 Damn, there goes our theory!
Sort of like the symphony no. 9 club.
