    SUPERTRAMP Founding Member Has Cancer

Just read on Imwan that one of Supertramps founding members Rick Davies has been diagnosed with Cancer therefore cancelling the Bands forthcoming tour plans for this Fall.

Sad news. I wish Rick Davies a full recovery. His health needs to be a priority. I will be seeing Roger Hodgson, the band's co-founder, later this summer in Europe and again in Canada in November. It is Roger who gave us Give a Little Bit, Breakfast in America, The Logical Song, Take the Long Way Home, Dreamer, and so many more. Many people are not aware that although Roger and Rick shared writing credit, they actually wrote separately and each sang their own songs. Check out Roger's tour dates here - http://www.RogerHodgson.com

    Rick gave us:

    Bloody Well Right
    Crime of the Century
    Goodbye Stranger
    Rudy
    Asylum
    Another Man’s Woman
    Ain’t Nobody But Me
    Poor Boy
    Lover Boy
    Downstream
    From Now On
    Gone Hollywood
    Just Another Nervous Wreck
    Oh Darling

In fact, the more Supertramp I listened to, the more I came to appreciate his songs more than Hodgson's..

    Get well soon Rick!

    Waiting So Long
    Brother Where You Bound
It Doesn't Matter (love this song, actually)

    Get well soon, Rick!

This is a pretty bad year for our musicians. I do hope the treatment goes well and Rick is back to full health soon.

not too mention the whole & awesome Brother Where You Bound album (tied as my second-prefered with the debut after COTC), which is proof that Rick was at least 50% of the band

    indeed.

I was planning to catch their tour in December in Brussels, but it looks like this might get cancelled.
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.

I was hoping to get along to the London show, but I believe the tour is definitely off.

This thread really shouldn't be about who did what. The two of them together made Supertramp what it was. I'm a fan of Roger, but this is really not the place to promote his tour, whoever this "Lucy" person is.

Most importantly, best wishes to Rick Davies for a full recovery.

I really hope Rick makes a speedy recovery. What a massive contribution to great music. Rick is easily my favourite Supertramp member.
