JT starts off as a blues tribute band, morphs into a heavy bloozrock band, then morphs into a prog-rock band, then morphs into a quasi-heavy-metal band.
Then, straight from Love Beach, Jerry Sinfeld shows up one day to offer services. Now they are doomed. It'll either be flute-driven bluegrass or doowop next. It's written in the stars.
If it isn't Krautrock, it's krap.

That makes you what you are" - Ian Anderson
Aqualung is a stone cold classic for me. Love the title track, Locomotive Breath, Cross Eyed Mary, Wond'ring Aloud, My God and Wind Up.
Martin Barre just announced rescheduled US and Ontario dates for his Aqualung 50th anniversary tour, with his regular band plus Clive Bunker and Dee Palmer. I'll be at the Hudson Falls show.

Does Martin Barre have a mailing list where he'll announce on-sale dates?
No mailing list AFAIK. Martin Lancelot Barre is likely not as "phan phriendly" as bands like Phish. Best bet is probably to sign up with or get on the mailing list for the specific venue.
I would say that Aqualung was Ian Anderson's first attempt at a "concept" album, something that he denies. When critics called it that way, he came back and released Thick as a Brick to show the media what Jethro Tull really meant by a full blown concept album.
It would be decades later JT toured and played the Aqualung album in its entirety (October 2005) presenting the album with video background and as a musical suite. The band gracefully gave us lucky fans a free live CD of an earlier live Aqualung recording that has never been made available commercially.
IMHO For me, Aqualung is a true classic.
Not my favourite Tull album. I find the song themes particularly depressing, though they are good songs.
i agree with the 'overexposed' comments.. i got tired of Locomotive and Cross-eyed a long time ago. that said the title track and My God are still awesome.
"She said you are the air I breathe
The life I love, the dream I weave."
Unevensong - Camel
It SHOULD seem over exposed, but I never get tired of those songs!
Aqualung and Locomotive Breath are overexposed for me, they are Tull's equivalent of Roundabout and I've Seen All Good People. This is partly to do with FM rock radio back in the day (and still, no doubt, but I wouldn't know) and also after listening to so many live shows as a tape collector when I was younger. I don't know if Tull/Ian has played one single concert without playing Aqualung since it was released. I love the rest of the album still though, and songs like My God and Wind Up are some of my favourites of the whole catalogue.

It wasn't played on the Thick as a Brick 2 tour, although "Locomotive Breath" was. There were a couple of change-ups over the years, such as the Stormwatch tour, where "Aqualung" was played early in the set instead of in its usual set-closing position; and the Divinities tour, where it was played in an almost unrecognizable quasi-orchestral arrangement. These just led to a situation where audience members could be heard shouting for "Aqualung" after it had already been played.

Definitely top 3 behind Stand Up and Tick As A Brick.
Re: overplaying exposure, I must that if I play the album, I'll start on track 2 (love XEM) and will either skip Locomotive or Hymn 43, but the rest gets a full attention.... especially Mother Goose.
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.
I liked the Locomotive/Black Sunday combo that they did on several tours, though I had to skip the '80 tour where it first showed up.
