Has Anyone Heard The new Kinetic Element (Hold Your Fire's band) Album?

I have, and I was very pleasantly surprised at just how good I thought it was. I shouldn't have been surprised though, as the album took longer than a presidential term of office to get from conception to final product.

As one of the real good guys in the prog stratosphere, I'm happy for Mike V. that he hit it, if not out of the park, at least into the upper deck.

    BTW, album title is Travelog.

Well yeah, I have. Track by track *lol* I think Mike and the guys should be really proud and I'm thrilled it seems to be getting some very positive notice. Mike's a terrific guy, he has put more than 100% of his blood and sweat into the project and it shows I think. Good stuff

Judge for yourself how good of a mixing job Fred and Steve did.

I'm still absorbing it but it sounds great - dang the girl singer is amazing on her one song.

That would be Michelle Schrotz of Brave. (Who played at ProgDay a few years back.) If you enjoy her there, you should check out her band.

Personally, I haven't gotten around to spinning it yet, but they were pretty good at Orion earlier this month.

I thought Powered by Light was a killer album, with just a couple of minor knit-picky annoyances. Travelog erased those knit-picky annoyances, making for the perfect epic prog album.

I think it is the best the band has done so far and agree that the song Michelle sings is a definite highlight.

Prog Archives Reviews. Very excited to have Tarcisio's 5-star review at Prog Archives. He is one of their collaborators who reviews, like, everything, so for him to pin 5 stars on our tail is, well, awesome. http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=49604 Other 5-star and 4-star there, and all the PA ratings from those who simply rated.
You may listen to it in its entirety here: http://melodicrevolutionrecords.com/album/travelog
    We like this one too:

Yes, it is shameless. What can I tell you? Give it a chance while you're in between Enchant and Echolyn.

I gave it a listen today after Tiger Moth Tales. It was sounding really good. The vocalist is growing on me quite a bit, and the guitar is excellent!

It's really good. Got to enjoy some of it live at Orion, which led to immediately buying it.

Posted this on another thread, but this seems to be a better place for it...

Just finished my first listen through TRAVELOG. All I can say is, "bravo." I really enjoyed POWERED BY LIGHT, but this one really takes some big steps in a very good direction. The writing and arrangements are always interesting, and the tracks develop and change in a very pleasing way. Each instrument shines in its own right, doing some cool and intricate stuff but never too much. Todd's instrumental guitar (and triangle) led section in the title track is just superb. Mike's keyboard led, Bach-inspired fugue in the next track is one of the best things I've heard on a modern prog record in a long, long time. Drums and bass are consistently solid and interesting. Alternating between three different vocalists adds a feeling of diversity to the album that makes each track sound fresh and different from the others. The recording sounds great, and Fred and Steve's mix just sparkles...In fact, having mixed many albums myself I know the mix is of great importance, but amazingly at times I hear passages that actually SOUND like Glass Hammer. I can't wait to see what cool details emerge on subsequent listens...I have no doubt there will be many. Kudos to everyone involved, folks. A job well done, all around. I can't see any valid reason why KE should not be on the stage at ROSfest or ProgDay, or both, in 2016.

I've been listening to the new album pretty consistently since purchasing it about three weeks ago. Each time it sounds better. Mike, you guys did a stellar job. Feed and Steve, the mix is superb (but OF COURSE!). I can see this one in my top five for the year for sure.

There's a stellar and classic prog moment in the first piece where Mike does this climbing fleet-fingered organ figure that makes my soul's fist pump into the night sky - any time of day. A musical highlight of the year, that's for sure.
