I've had Mega Moon by Moon Safari in my head for a week now, for the adventurous among you here's a link to the live version (don't say I didn't warn you, if you make it to the chorus there's no turning back):

    My current earworm:

I definitely prefer Solange over her older sister Beyonce.

As soon as I gave XTC's swan song, "Wasp Star" it's first spin, this earworm stuck in my craw.

Thanks for reminding me of this one. I should really check out the album it came from. He wrote some pretty good tunes that I've heard other bands do(Rainbow, Head East) and I always thought that song should have been more popular at the time. I still enjoy that one.

Holy moly, he wrote New York Groove? Been hearing that one a lot recently as the Mets are in the playoffs. I see also that Head East also did the other tune they shared with him and Rainbow, I Surrender. Is that one on their live album? It's all I have from them but I never noticed that one on there.

Dude had a lot of tunes done by others. A lot. Pretty amazing.

If I have a song in my head that is (a) not a tune from my personal music collection or (b) not a tune I just overheard on the radio in a store or someone else's car stereo... if I think about it for a minute, it is often because a line in the song has something to do with something going on in my life at the moment or something I was thinking about. Wish I could give a specific example.
You say Mega Ultra Deluxe Special Limited Edition Extended Autographed 5-LP, 3-CD, 4-DVD, 2-BlueRay, 4-Cassette, five 8-Track, MP4 Download plus Demos, Outtakes, Booklet, T-Shirt and Guitar Pick Gold-Leafed Box Set Version like it's a bad thing...

Funny, I never knew anything about Pablo Cruise beyond hearing the hit singles, but I always assumed they were black. To me they sound black.

    Currently this:

It's not even my favourite song from the Talking With Strangers album, but it has that earworm quality.

About a week ago, I woke up with this in my head. WTF?! How the hell...? I didn't realize it was from "My Fair Lady" until I just looked it up on YT. If there's any time I've ever seen that musical, it was the film version and I was probably 10 years old. I think there's an alien in brain who's rummaging through my memory banks, knocking stuff off the shelves. And he hates me!

^^ There are plenty of songs from musicals that seem to have a life outside of the musical in question, and some people may not even know the origins of the song.

    Examples:

My Fair Lady: Get Me to the Church on Time, On the Street Where You Live
West Side Story: There's a Place For Us
The Sound of Music: Edelweiss (a lot of people think it's a traditional Austrian folk song)
    South Pacific: Some Enchanted Evening
    Carousel: You'll Never Walk Alone

    and probably many others.

Never paid much attention to movie soundtracks but I just heard (not a worm yet) "A View To Kill" by Duran Duran. Got me to thinking about all the good Bond flick hit songs.

God someone just played What's Going On by Four Non Blonds. Kill me now before it becomes an earworm.

MFL was one of my father’s favourite films, so I’ll never forget what musical the songs are from.

Many of them have been adopted by jazz musicians and became jazz "standards." I know and can play a reasonable amount of them, but I couldn't tell you which musicals they came from without looking them up.

But I've yet to hear a jazz group play "With a Little Bit of Luck."

Most recent one I had was I Feel Love by Donna Summer. A couple years ago, after seeing the movie The Fantastic Mr. Fox, I had Let Her Dance by The Bobby Fuller Four running through my mind.

I've had The Turtles "Happy Together" and The Box Tops "The Letter" stuck in my head for 48 years now.

I was 5 years old in 1967 and those two songs ruined my life.

A couple of days ago my earworm was Bowie's "Ashes To Ashes".

Yesterday it was "Ziggy Stardust", which is not even a song that I particularly like.

Today, thanks to extended discussion on this board, my earworm is "Life On Mars".

    Thanks, David.

I had an earworm when I woke up this morning, but it's been obliterated by the Claypool Lennon Delirium song. I can't remember the name but I hear the music.
