    Music of the "khaen",a bamboo free-reed mouth organ.

    I recently heard music of the khaen(khene), a bamboo mouth organ played by folk musicians in Laos and Thailand.The sound just seduces you and it's quite rhythmic and falls easily on the ear.The musician on this clip is Sombat Simlah, a blind Thai khaen master.

    Kinda reminded me at first of music that Terry Riley recorded in the mid 60's.In any event, it's amazing music, imo.Hope you dig it.

    That's really cool! As someone who plays simple wind instruments (see my profile pic), I find this very attractive. And yes, it's pleasingly minimalist as well. Thanks for posting!

    Fairly ubiquitous, in various forms, throughout East and Southeast Asia. In Japan it's called sho and typically plays tone cluster drones, which Riley, Young, et al explored:
