    Holiday Hauls

Did you rake in some aural joy? I did (of course, I ordered it all for my wife to give to me, but it turned out she did the same thing with a pair of boots. Doh!):

Rick Wakeman - Journey To The Centre Of The Earth (that new rerecording)
    Steve Moore - Light Echoes
    Zoltan - First Stage Zoltan
    Strawbs - Live In America
Grateful Dead - The Golden Road (the boxed set of the first half of their studio and official live albums)

    Evelyn Evelyn
    Beardfish - The Void
    Beardfish - Mammoth
Big Big Train - English Electric part 1
Big Big Train - The Underfall Yard
    Echolyn (2012 self titled)
Echolyn - The End Is Beautiful
    Magenta - Chameleon
    Magenta - Metamorphosis
    Kaipa - Mindrevolutions
Kaipa - In The Wake Of Evolution
    Kaipa - Vittjar

Already had some of this, but wanted to upgrade from Amazon downloads and get the whole package. Evelyn Evelyn is Amanda Palmer at her weirdest and it is great fun.

Metamorphosis left me cold when I bought the download, but repeated listens over time did the trick and led me to "officially" complete my Magenta studio album collection.

Vittjar is just a pure delight...I think that Kaipa gets better with each album...Roine who? They just make music that sounds like they are having fun creating. Aleena and Patrick have love it or hate it voices, but I very much fall in th love it camp, especially when they share vocals in a song.

Got the Beatles vinyl box and the Chicago '69-'78 studio album box set (as mentioned here -- thanks, PE!). And that was pretty much my Christmas!

I got most of my christmas haul before christmas, wrestling books that I needed as research for my website. What I got on Christmas:

    Symphonic Resonance--Arch/Matheos
    The Nightmare Before Christmas DVD
And ZPZ DVD, which I have to return because I already have it. So more Christmas booty will be coming

    You obviously weren't naughty enough!

    I got three CDs:
Klaus Schulze: La Vie Electronique Vol. 12
John Zorn: A Vision in Blakelight
Various Artists: Pebbles Vol. 1 ('60s garage psych)

Non-musical: a gift certificate for Trader Joe's, my dad's homemade fudge, a tin of fancy cookies, and a $50 bill from my boss.

Used the rest of my Christmas cash to go a second round at Kinesis. Decided to finish off my Beardfish collection and got their first five albums. Scored the last copy Larry had of their out of print debut...woo hoo! I was sweating that one during his Christmas store shut down, thinking that someone else was going to snag it.

Also ordered another Big Big Train ; Far Skies Deep Time.

I have been greatly enjoying the other Big Big Train and Beardfish cds I got earlier. English Electric part one and The Void have both become contenders on my own album of the year chart.
