Thread: Led Zeppelin announce Deluxe Edtions of Presence, In Through The Out Door" & Coda

There's a preview of the Coda bonus track "Sugar Mama", from 1968 sessions, at: http://www.theguardian.com/music/201...ong-sugar-mama

It's a relatively minor piece of funked up blues psychedlia - interesting enough as such - but, even on this, Bonham's playing just smokes.

Same here. Only available in the UK, according to the article itself.

Thanks, YouTube! Interesting, but overall certainly nothing special.

Thanks for posting that. It's kind of raw, but I like the song.

yup, worthy of Zeppelin... it won't deface Coda for sure...

But it could've been included on the ZeP 1 album as a bonus track
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.

That's a cool track. Might not have worked on the first album though. What is that strange sounding instrument in the background? Sort of sounds like a whacked out string section. Then when the solo bit starts it sounds like a pedal steel with effects.

That descending bit in the background throughout the song, you mean? Just a nastily-distorted guitar riff, I would guess. The middle part sounds like guitar through a Leslie (rotating speaker).

Yeah. It's probably a heavily effected, electric guitar. Don't quite get it though. It really adds nothing to the song (imo). Clearly, they were trying to do their version of "soul/funk" music. I know the Zeppers love that stuff but never took themselves seriously when it came to doing soul music. Personally I love their forays into R&B/Soul/whatever. I think I'm one of the very few on this site that really loves "The Crunge."

If they tightened it up and put that track on steroids, I think it would sit well on HOTH or Physical Graffiti. Very funky..love the Bonham groove against Page's guitar riff. The guitar solo mainly sounds heavy on the "chorus".

Oh dude, I love The Crunge!! But I hate D'Yer Maker. It wasn't until a few years ago I found out that they actually thought that song sounded reggea.
