It's a very neutral word, but to me it carries a negative connotation. Am I alone?

I don't attach a negative connotation to "crooner". Ferry is one. So was Frank Sinatra. And Richard Sinclair at times. Done well it's awesome.

I don't mind crooners, and I don't mind that Ferry croons, but I don't particularly like his voice. I may have appreciated Roxy music more with a different lead singer.
