Kraftwerk Live in 2015 - US tickets onsale tomorrow (some presales today)

    Hi folks;

Kraftwerk is hitting the road (not THAT road, even if that is a fun fun fun road) this summer/fall:

    http://www.kraftwerk.com/concerts/index-concerts.html

Looks like many of the US dates go onsale tomorrow. A few joints may have presales starting today.

I saw their tour a year or so back and it was such incredible fun. Robots rule!

    Happy ticketing!

    wow...no NYC!

this show is incredible! saw it last year at United Palace in NYC
    it is a must see
for a band that is seen as robotic, computerized etc, they really made my soul dance
the production of course is cutting edge as well
very memorable, and I see bands all the time

I suppose you can fahren-fahren-fahren even when it's not fun-fun-fun. No doubt there'll be plenty of both.

$80? Worth it for a show like this, but I don't imagine being able to come up with it by tomorrow.....

Yeah...looks like they are hitting some unusual spots this time around. Philly was closest to me...got tix on a presale today actually.

TOTALLY worth it. I hope you can work out the funding!

Oh, there's a presale? I hate that. If they're on sale, then it's a sale. That's probably just a way of goosing numbers for the first day or something, isn't it?

Damn. The more I think about it, the more I'm tempted to spring for it anyway and shortchange the water bill or something later.

I just scored a ticket for The Electric Factory. Thanks for the heads up John Battema. I have never seen Kraftwerk so I am hoping it is a real treat.

I look at these presales as just doubling my chances to score a ticket. It's all general admission so it isn't like better seats or anything...just that, if I can't score a ticket on the presale, at least I still have the public date to fall back on.

I hope you can work out a ticket...it really is well worth the price.

Did they actually perform themselves or did they send their robot facsimiles?

IIRC, it was always their plan to do a world tour in one day by having their replicants rock all the venues simultaneous. Taking outsourcing to its logical conclusion…

$80 is worth it to watch some mannequins press buttons?

But, virtuoso player Eddie Jobson and actual musicians playing music for $75 is considered a HUGE rip-off?!?

    Hmmm, Yes, perhaps.

Ha ha...at this point I don't think the robots are making an appearance anymore. They have digital robot versions onscreen instead.

    Yep!

Kraftwerk uses about as much software tech as Jobson does nowadays, and unlike Jobson, Kraftwerk's rigs typically work without issues

Really looking forward to this show. They haven't played in KC since the mid-70s.

Considering they're running pre-recorded sequences in iPads and an MS Tablet, they should.

Jobson's got more equipment in his rig than all four of them put together.

I love Kraftwerk's music as much as anyone here, but what is the point of seeing them live? I'm not trying to diss them, but I sincerely don't get it. I've seen youtube clips. They just stand there. From the audience point of view, that is all you seem to get. Four guys standing there, I guess occasionally taking a vocal.

At least Eddie Jobson visibly rocks...

If by visibly rocks, you mean he rocks to/from behind his keyboard controller then yes, he rocks

Kraftwerk is FAR from a rock band, and has never tried to be anything close. What they DO do, with the visual elements, the sound (sadly, no YT clip can even begin to do their show justice), even the "boardroom presentation" approach...quite honestly, it is an experience that is pretty unlike much anything else I've seen. It isn't for everyone, but for those of us who do like it? It's pretty goddamned epic.

I'd say more, but first you have to join the Kling Klang Lounge for $pecial behind-the-$cene$ acce$$ for TRUE Klangers

It has been a while since I saw them, 1981 Computer World tour. They had a big set with many blinken lights and projector screens.
They were pretty static performers up to the encore, where they 'came alive'.
The article link has a review contrasting the MOMA shows and that '81 Warner Theater show.

Not sure if I am going to trek to Philly for this go around, but I still have good memories of the last one.

Well, the guys aren't the point. You might as well say there was no reason to see Robert Fripp or John Entwistle play live.

Is that affiliated with the Boing Boom Tschak club by any chance? I wonder if there are crossover discounts.
