    Does Anyone Remember Me??

    Greetings all!
Thought I'd dip my toes in the water here after a VERY long time away! For those of you who are interested I'm now living and working in Ningbo, China, teaching International Politics at the University of Nottingham's Campus here. Been here for six months and remain here for at least another two years. Fascinating country and city, and life is generally pretty good. Sadly lost my Dad in the summer of 2013 to the Big C, but in the meantime I have, gulp, GOT MARRIED!! Looking forward to discussing things prog and otherwise again, especially as access to music in China (legally, in any case) is virtually non-existent. Yes, I am still playing the guitar, though not as often as I would like. There are however some nice little venues around here where I get out and do my acoustic thang when time allows, and I'm in the process of importing a Charvel So-Cal electric from the US, which I can only describe as 'expensive'. In the meantime life is good!

Be nice to know how those from back in the day are keeping - look forward to talking to you soon.
    Mark.

    "Unforgettable, that's what you are..."

Welcome back, Mark! My condol... er, CONGRATULATIONS on your marriage! Sorry to hear about your dad. Mine passed away two months ago and I know firsthand how hard that is to go through.

China, huh?! That's... different! I've never been. Closest I've come is Korea and I'm actually going there for the third time at the end of this month.

Anyway, good to hear from you!

    Welcome back Mark!

Closest I've been to China is Hong Kong and while technically a part of China, culturally it really isn't.

Good to see a familiar sign in name from the old days, welcome back Mark. I lost my Dad last month to the big C too, terrible times all around, but picking ourselves up and getting back in the world again now. Hope you enjoy your return, not sure how much has changed, I often feel I should take a long sabbatical and come back refreshed, but then I post infrequently, but do browse for a short while most days, so would miss the news and views.

Mark! Been wondering where you'd gotten to!

Like you I lost my father in 2013 to the Big C. But as you know, we were estranged for 20 years so it was good just to see each other one last time. However, I have yet to get married, though my Common Law contract with Barb is almost the same as...

I pop in from time to time here, though I probably don't open more than 5% of the threads.

I imagine for many (I can speak for myself at least) that pop in more frequently - several times a day - 5 to 10% would be the number of threads opened. And I believe this would speak more to the volume of good threads here as opposed to the opposite occurring.

Anyway, back to the welcome back sentiments ...

Surely do remember you. It is funny how one does not realize things such as your absence until it returns. If that makes any sense, IDK!
Anyway it is great to have you back. Share with us the music scene there if it exists and if you are able to without being censored. Just curious about artistic freedom and forms of entertainment in a country like China. IF you have the time or the will to do so. And what access you may have to purchasing music and listening to it online. Any Youtube, Pandora or Spotify etc ???
