If you were, I'd defo be worried that something was very wrong.
Well, the stream is over now. It "defo" had some moments, but I thought the one I saw from 2012 was better. You can view that one here:
BTW: Mingus:
Progholio, you'll be transcribing Coltrane's solo too, right? The tune itself is no challenge.
I turned my iTunes "Genius" jazz mix on (it's a genre specific shuffle play if you didn't know). Some "genius," it thought fusion was jazz. First it played Tribal Tech, then Hiromi's Sonicbloom... then it finally found Sarah Vaughan, followed by some Charlie Parker.
As Charlie Parker and I share the same birthday, I put on some of Bird's old albums to start the day.
Don Grolnick--Complete Blue Note recordings. Earlier, played some Bird, some Monk, some Trane...and all of Mingus Antibes concert.
all over.
Now the world can safely just go back to ignoring it again!

“Remember, if it doesn't say "Cuneiform," it's not prog!” - THE Jed Levin
Any time any one speaks to me about any musical project, the one absolute given is "it will not make big money". [tip of the hat to HK]
"Death to false 'support the scene' prog!"
please add 'imo' wherever you like, to avoid offending those easily offended.
Did everybody have a 'miserable day' ?
Been on a Herbie Hancock & Wayne Shorter kick all week.
no tunes, no dynamics, no nosebone
Well "International Jazz Day" wasn't exactly yesterday's headline news.
I had what would've been a miserable day for you. For me, it was quite pleasant. But thanks for asking!
I'm more worried about the medium rare hamburger that I ordered coming out medium.
That's a very good kick to be on! Each of their respective solo outputs on the Blue Note label alone could provide weeks of listening nirvana! And that would only take you up to 1970. But the '60s was a great decade for jazz and those two were largely responsible for that.
I hope your burger was okay, Ernie.
The last three items on yesterday's playlist:
Authority Melts From Me-Bobby Avey
Bird Calls-Rudresh Mahanthappa
Colors of a Dream-Tom Herrell
All genius, IMO.
