    Nothing here under Q, X or Z.

    E has only two:
    Enya - Watermark
    The Eagles - Desperado

    I has 3:
    Icehouse - Measure For Measure
    Indigo Girls - s/t
    Mark Isham - Vapor Drawings

    One U:
    U2 - The Unforgettable Fire

    One V:
    Suzanne Vega = s/t

Only one artist under Y (Yes), but several albums.

I'm surprised that on a progressive music forum there are any gaps at all, as there are a myriad of strange names in every the least frequented sectors of the alphabet.

.. but not all prog fans like all prog bands. All those strange names you are referring to, for any one of them I'm sure you would find one or more people on this forum who own their stuff, but plenty of other people who don't.

None here either. Even X has about ten - X-Legged Sally, Bernard Xolotl, Iannis Xenakis, X, X-Ray Specs off the top of my head.

I think 'O' might only be represented in my collection by three artists, though there are more than three albums:

    Mike Oldfield
    Opeth
    Roy Orbison

I was going to remark on the startling absence of Quiet Sun in this thread. I thought they were obligatory! Quatermass, too, though I'm personally not a big fan.

Without knowing anything about those names, I'd still guess I'd rather fill the gap with any of them before Quiet Riot.

Quiet Sun are a Canterbury related band featuring Phil Manzanera (Roxy Music), & Bill McCormick (Matching Mole). They only released one album. I became aware of them from 801 - Live that has RongWrong on it & featured Manzanera, McCormick, Eno, Francis Monkman & Simon Phillips. Great great live album.

I've been listening to some of his stuff and it is very New Age to my ears, that said I am reminded of Klaus Schulze as well.

It's weird that in everyday text and language situations certain letters are underrepresented e.g. J, but when it comes to band names there are loads for J....well, in my collection at least.

    Jadis
    Judas Priest
    Jethro Tull
    Bert Jansch
    Jefferson Airplane
    Steve Jones
    Japan
    Jobriath
    Journey
    Elton John
    The Jayhawks
    Tom Jones
    Jean Michel Jarre
    The Jam
    Joan Jett
    Joe Jackson
    Jellyfish
    Grace Jones

Also how about the foreign letters that we don't have. I've only got 2:

    Änglagård
    Älgarnas Trädgård
