    1979 - the other side of the coin....

    ....in 1979 was that the earlier 70s bands of the rock n roll and rockabilly revival were still going strong, and a lot of pub rock bands carried on playing pub rock rather than following Costello, Dury, Parker & company down the New Wave route. Of course there was some crossover in styles, in that many of the new wave and pub rock bands played very similar styles and were on the same labels, especially, Stiff, Epic and Polydor. Some of them even successfully managed to occupy both camps at the same time e.g. Graham Parker and Dave Edmunds.

    YES, I do consider Status Quo pub rock!!!
